I bought this recently to try out. The action works well and it is very solid with a good lock up, like all axis locks. The brown scales were just not doing it for me so I dyed them black and it looks much better. The box and everything else is gone. This has never been carried or cut anything other than paper. The scales look blue in the pics. Are they really black?

Yeah, they are black. The camera makes them look blue. I used RIT black and doubled dipped them for over an hour. I tried a better angle taken while I was typing this. Here it is.
