I have recently acquired a used, but extraordinarily good condition 1st Gen KA-BAR BK2 in a trade. I know that some people wish they had purchased a 1st gen while still available, as they do not care for the changes made with the 2nd gen. The sheath has been modified with the belt loop removed and the holes made to accommodate a tek-lock for horizontal carry.

I'd like to trade this knife for a new, or equally lightly used 2nd Gen BK2 with sheath. Please post if interested.

What dont you like about the 1st gen? I am seeking on as opposed to the 2nd. Aside from wanting to swap it out what is the main difference between the 2. I have heard the 2nd gen quality and fit/finish are better. As well as what you stated about the sheath.

I had forgotten about this...

The 2nd Gen has the new sheath, but there are some other differences. For one, Becker added a hammer pommel to the BK2 similar to what you see on the back end of the BK7 and BK9. Secondly, the tang now has cutouts in it like the 7 and 9, whereas the first gen was solid aside for the three holes for the bolts. This makes the 2nd gen a bit lighter. Otherwise, they are the same.

I'm still willing to trade. However, I have gotten rid of the 1st gen sheath and now have the second gen sheath. So, really, it is just the 1st gen knife with 2nd gen sheath. I also did split some soft wood a few weeks ago. The surface got a little worn, but the knife is still in prime condition. The same wear would likely take effect upon anyones first use of the knife. email pmhauge@gmail.com if you are interested in a trade and would like pics.
