Brand new / unused one-of-a-kind custom Benchmade 730CFHS with carbon fiber scales, M2 blade, presentation box, original paperwork,etc. #476 of 500. I got this brand new when it first came out and sent it to BodyCote North America for some custom work. They started by beadblasting the BT2 teflon coating off. Then, they hard-chromed the blade, liners, clip, and all screws / hardware, followed by BC1 (Boron Carbide) on the liners, and their bullet-proof DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) finish to everything else. This gave everything the corrosion resistance, as well as the liners that shiny black chrome look, and a DARK flat black, bomb-proof finish to everything else. When Bodycote was done with it, they sent everything to Benchmade where they reassembled, sharpened the blade, and polished the tang where the Axis mech. rides. They also reinstated the warranty, then sent it back to me. They offered to re-laser the logo's, but I wanted it left sterile besides the rollmark on the clip. Benchmade will re-laser the Benchmade logo, but not the limited markings due to not wanting to give the impression that it is a factory finish. I assume this is due to having 5 years pass since they sent / received it from BodyCote. This isn't just a looker, it is smoother and more perfect than any Benchmade I've had, only much cooler. These 730CFHS's are nearly impossible to get, Benchmade no longer uses M2 "High Speed" tool steel, and BodyCote won't accept small-scale work from individuals any longer. Bodycote's DLC finish has been used exclusively on several high-end knives and pistol slides, etc. In fact, they only do this on contract with these companies now. Would like to trade for a Hinderer XM-18 non-flipper in 3.5" satin / stonewashed blade. Prefer black G10 or green Micarta scales. Can add cash.
Would also do partial trade for a like new BM 555, ESPECIALLY with blue or camo handle. Might also consider a 705 or similar BM / Spyderco sub 3" blade for the ol lady.
