I just got my first 1911 and I'm ready to dive into it head first. Everything I'm looking for will be for a stainless Springfield TRP with ambi safety. I would really like to get a set of G10 or Micarta grips in black or gray, prefer bevel but flat ok too. I'd like to try out a one piece full length guide rod (stainless steel). I'd like to get a DVD that focuses on detailed disassembly more than customization, but one that contained info on both would be ok too. It probably wouldn't hurt to pick up some new mags (I already have some Wilson 47D so I'd like to stick with those). I'm also looking to pick up a Wilson Combat extended slide stop and tactical mag release/catch. Beyond these things, I'm open to suggestions of anything a new 1911 shooter shouldn't be without.

For my trade bait I have a like new Galco CCP (http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterT3.asp?ProductID=2030&CatalogID=5) holster in black leather for a Glock 17/22/31. I have a brand new/no package Inova X1 LED (silver/white) with a lanyard strap and two holsters. I have a Chip McCormick POWER 10 stainless 1911 mag that is like new, and several nice folding knives as well.

PLEASE email me at mattz357@yahoo.com if you are interested in trading or if you have any questions. Thanks in advance!!!

Matt, welcome to the sickness. :D A worthwhile suggestion would be to peruse the 1911 specific forums, i.e., 1911forum.com or 10-8forums.com. You'll find that several of the add-ons you've set your sights on are shunned. I'd run your TRP the way it is now, sans the flgr, extended slide stop and magazine release. They're not needed, and actually hinder certain techniques. Grips are a good idea and you should pick up spare parts such as recoil springs and a spare extractor. You can do without a bushing wrench, but you may find it makes dissembly easier. If you haven't chosen already, concentrate on your carry/range/competition gear (holsters and pouches) and ammo for practice.

Good shooting,

Eric, I do realize the stigma that accompanies some of the parts I'm looking for. I have a two piece FLGR now, and want a one piece mostly to see how they work differently (don't know which I'll end up keeping). The extended controls are mostly for ease of use at the range, which is the only place the gun will get used since we don't have carry in IL. My particular TRP bushing is way too tight to budge without a wrench, but I have a polymer one to avoid scratching it.

I'm already on the 1911 forums as well, but thought I would give it a try since the knife/gun addictions seem to run parallel. Thanks!
