I'm willing to trade legal services for gear, guns, knives, valuables or your services. GA cases only. If this is not allowed, please delete post. Here is an ad I run to give you the idea of the work I do,
The Eaton Law Firm, P.C. offers caring and professional assistance in your divorce or family law matter. We provide affordable, client-focused representation and consultations in the following areas:
Georgia State Bar License number available on request.
DIVORCE - CONTESTED divorces can drag on and cost a fortune. We focus on resolving your case in your favor through negotiations. However, we will fight for you if necessary. We work to keep costs down and delay to a minimum.
DIVORCE - UNCONTESTED divorces at very reasonable rates where your spouse will consent and there are no assets to distribute or minor children to consider. Even if your matter is more complicated, you may still be able to keep your divorce uncontested and stay out of court, saving you time and money.
CUSTODY / VISITATION - The toughest aspect of ending a relationship can be custody and visitation. We focus on helping you find real-life, workable solutions in the best interests of your children.
CHILD AND SPOUSAL SUPPORT - We will work to get you the support you need. We also handle cases in which our clients need to reduce or increase the amount of child support paid.
MISCELLANEOUS -- We handle other matters such as post-judgment actions, motions, temporary protective orders, relocation, etc.
AGREEMENTS - We will draft a prenuptial, separation or other agreement that lets you begin your marriage or move on with peace of mind. You can control your own future, rather than let a judge decide it for you. We may also be able to help you protect your premarital assets without having to inform your potential spouse or obtain a signature.
CONSULTATIONS - In addition to full representation, we offer consultations. Have your agreement reviewed, learn what you may expect to be relevant in a divorce, prepare for a court date, learn what to do and what your rights are.
To learn more, send electronic mail or call (770) 433-8121. Free phone consultation.

A note from "Jim" - a recent client from a case involving a supposed child-support debt:
I'm impressed by and appreciate how competently you are representing me. If the outcome is not in my favor it won't be from lack of talented counsel...Thanks much and enjoy your weekend. Jim
Jim won his case - the Judge ruled that he actually owed no back child support to his ex-wife, and that she may actually owe Jim money.
Testimonial From Mr. John M.:
"The Eaton Law Firm and Charles Eaton were able to help me greatly. I was unrepresented during my divorce in 2003. I agreed to almost everything that my former wife's attorney suggested including supervised visitation, no legal or physical custody and rather large child support arrangements. After 19 visits (mostly supervised) with my son in California and Colorado (she moved), my former wife was unwilling to change much of our agreement. Charles helped in a calm collected way for an affordable fee. Thanks to Charles, this past Christmas, my son visited me here in Georgia for the first time. He stayed at my house for a week! He will return in March for another week and he will spend two weeks with me this summer. In addition, Charles was able to have child support refigured and now it includes an allowance for my travel expenses. Last but not least, I now have joint legal custody of my son. Charles was easily accessible and has a wonderful paralegal (Raquel) to help when he is not available. My son and I thank you both!"

Testimonial by Mr. B.C.:
"For my divorce, I tried to do everything myself and, after the courts rejected a portion of my paperwork. It was apparent to me that I needed help and lots of it. I found The Eaton Law Firm's advertisement on Craigslist and gave them a call since the rates were inexpensive...It was the best decision I could have made...I believe I got a lifetime of relief. Mr. Eaton informed me of everything I was missing and why some of the wording in my previously submitted documents would be rejected. After working out the payment details, they got right to work and provided documents that were accepted without a hitch by the Court.
Thank you, Charles, for helping put an end to a rather sad chapter in my life."
On April 2, 2008, Attorney Charles Eaton had a final hearing in a Paulding County, Georgia, Divorce. Before the Final, Mr. Eaton's client was paying over $1,600 per month alimony and child support under a prior Court Order (he had represented himself). He had no visitation. Mr. Eaton was able to secure a new Order reducing the total child support to less than $800 per month, and get him three days per week with his daughter.
June 24, 2008: The Georgia Department of Human Resources took a client to court for "unpaid" child support exceeding $10,000. The result was a dismissal of the case without the client paying or owing any arrears. The monthly child support going forward was reduced and the client was entitled to receive his tax refund and other funds held in escrow by the department.
December 10, 2008, Newton County Superior Court: the father of a client's child sought to pay $700 in child support per month. Mr. Eaton was able to prove that a reasonable obligation for him is $1,131.21. UPDATE: on February 25, 2009, Mr. Eaton received a ruling on behalf of his client that the father must pay all of her attorney fees since December.
On March 5, 2009 Mr. Eaton got a child support establishment case against his client dismissed in Fulton County Superior Court.
July 7, 2009: Charles M. Eaton successfully petitioned the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia to dismiss a $65,000 back child support case against a father on jurisdictional grounds.
July 16, 2009: Successfully obtained a ruling from the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia (Judge Bowens) that a client is NOT the legal or biological father of his former girlfriend's child. Client will not have to pay child support.
August 28, 2009: Won a ruling (based on the new child support statute) reducing a client's child support from $625 to $358 per month though his income remained the same.
January 28, 2010: Obtained visitation order in contested modification case.
February 9, 2010: Obtained a divorce for a lady client who had been separated from her husband for about five years. She received primary physical custody, final decision making authority for the children and approximately $950 per month in child support. Also, she will receive 1/2 of any equity in the marital home, which was calculated to be in excess of $30,000. The husband had refused to provide any child support.
March 3, 2010: Obtained temporary custody for a FATHER in a contested legitimation and custody case.
June 14, 2010: Negotiated a solution to a child support arrears case: Eaton's client, the Father, owes $42,000 for 12 years unpaid child support. Obtained an agreement by which he will stay out of jail, the mother's claim for interest was dropped, and the debt will be paid off at the rate of $400.00 per month.
September 7, 2010: Obtained a court order reducing a Father's child support payment from $1,200 to $718, and reducing his child support debt from approximately $15,000 to $8,000.
January 13, 2011: Negotiated a reduction in a parent's child support obligation from $674 to $477, and obtained an additional week of summer visitation each year.
March 10, 2011: Obtained a reduction in a client's alimony obligation - he will have to pay approximately $20,000 less than he would have.
April 21, 2011: Got a Father's child legitimated AND obtained for him primary physical custody and an award of child support.
May 6, 2011: Obtained a termination of parental rights to protect children from an abusive parent.
October 3, 2011: Successfully defended against an attempt by a parent to reduce his child support obligation and obtained an order for our client's attorney fees to be paid by the other parent.
October 17, 2011: Won a dismissal of a divorce case against a client because his wife forged a Settlement Agreement and Acknowledgement of Service.
February 6, 2012: Submitted a brief which won a denial of client's ex-wife's attempt to have a child support order registered in Georgia. Case will properly be heard in his state, not Georgia.
February 28, 2012: Negotiated a divorce agreement for a client with two children. Arranged generous visitation and a $200+ reduction in monthly child support.
March 13, 2012: Obtained a court order in Gwinnett County Superior Court, reducing a Father's monthly child support payment from from $783 to $228.
March 16, 2012: Negotiated a successful change of custody and child support case.
July 3, 2012: Successfully obtained an order placing a father in jail for non-payment of $89,000 in child support. Won Attorney fees for client.
July 31, 2012: Won custody of a child for a Father in Fulton County Superior Court.
August 29, 2012: Two different trials. Won a finding of willful contempt and an award of attorney fees against a parent for denial of visitation. In a DHR case, negotiated a $100 per month payment for approximately $52,000 in back child support, without interest.
October 30, 2012: Obtained a reduction in alimony for a client from $1,200 per month for life to zero. Also got child support reduced from approximately $750 to $350.
January 10, 2013: Kept a client out of jail in a contempt action over several thousand dollars in unpaid child support; won a ruling for a $50 per month repayment plan.
January 28, 2013: Divorce final hearing - represented the Husband. The Wife sought $600 child support, plus $200 alimony. Won a ruling from the judge that client would pay $280 child support and no alimony.
February 13, 2013: Obtained a dismissal of a Temporary Protective Order ("TPO") filed against a client.
April 24, 2013: Won a child support award for client that did NOT include any of the deductions sought by the father. Obtained the visitation sought by client, not the additional days the father wanted. Most importantly, and unusually, was able to obtain an award of almost $20,000 for RETROACTIVE child support - not arrears - money from before there was any order for child support, to compensate the mother for the funds she had spent on health insurance and childcare.
August 8, 2013: Two cases - in the first, the custodial parent had sought child support of $600.00 per month. We won an order from the Judge awarding $401 per month. In the second, the State of Georgia (DHR) wanted our client to pay approximately $1,000 per month in child support. Negotiated a $500 payment per month.
Every case is different, and we cannot offer any guarantees. We will strive to obtain the best possible outcome for your case.
