Not really looking for something in particular, so send me a PM with your proposal. Worst I can do is say, no thanks.

Would definitely be interested in a Spyderco Stretch II CF, Sage 1, Caly III ZDP189/CF, Leafstorm, Kershaw ZT 0500 Mudd Folder, BokerPlus Exskelibur I, Mcusta Katana,,... plain edged folders only plz. !

Is that Ti or Alumninum?

Aluminum. The only Titanium Herbst was made in Solingen Germany with 440c steel. There is also blue filled in the lines on the titanium model. They are very hard to find as they were disontinued before finishing production and the model was changed to this. The titaniums are one of my favorites (they open smooooooothly), and I've only managed to locate and buy 3 so far.

I asked the same question on the Spyderco forum and was told is was the Alu version, but kinda special since it has the VG10 blade,,,

Yes, it came after the the German built titanium ones, which were pretty much a disaster. More "seconds" and total QC rejects than good ones. Spyderco moved production from Germany to Japan, and made some changes in the process.

Well said JD!
Nothing to add from my side, besides a small detail: the C53 Peter Herbst in Aluminium was produced from 2001 (ATS-55) to 2002 (VG-10) and only a tiny difference in MSRP between the Ti-model and the Alu- model - the Alu was at a cheaper price 4.- USD (full MSRP 175,95) ... to my best knowledge.

I would sure keep that VG-10 model as a collector piece if I was you. It's not as rare as the Titanium handled version but it's still highly collectible. The vast majority of those Herbst models were made with ATS-55. Of all the ones I've had I only ever had one that was a VG-10 model.

Here is the thread.
