Im looking for a nice traditional knife in working condition, Used is just fine as long as its not abused. My Favorite GEC is the 72 Lockback, it has a nice big blade. I dont really know which one I want, or which brand, so I thought I would put this out there and see what I get offered. Ive seen a lot of Case and GEC knives that I like. I like big blades, big as in wide (not thick, wide from the edge of the blade to the spine of the blade). I like the shape of sunfish blades, like a wide large spear blade, but I also like clip points, hawkbills, wharncliffes, speys, sheepfoot blades, and elephant toenail (not sure if thats right?) blades. I really like A.G. Russells blades, just as an example. Other than the blade shape, Im not real picky. I also dont care if its single or multi blades.
I have a Buck Vantage Select that is LNIB, BUT it has NEVER been carried or used AT ALL. When I got it I did an inspection, as usual, and noticed that the bevels were uneven, so I reprofiled it. I used a Lansky Diamond Deluxe system for the reprofiling, I started at 70 grit Diamonds all the way up to 1000 and 2000 grit Ceramics, then switched to my Sharpmakers Ultra Fine rods, and finished on Balsa Strops charged with 1 micron and .5 micron Diamond Wicked Edge Pastes. Its not completely mirror polished, but it looks clean and is very even and extremely sharp. This knife comes with the original factory papers, plastic bag, and box. The lock up is solid and has no blade play.
