Brand new to the site. I inherited a Aerial Cutlery M3 trench knife with a M8 B.M.CO sheathe from my grandfather after his long fight with cancer. Knife is very sharp but in rough shape blade is greyish black and theres rust on the guard the leather is also black and has large spaces between each segment. The ordanance stamp on the pommel is barely visible as well. The sheathe has a crack in it the nylon (ig) part is coming apart on the edges the sheathe itself is slightly rusted but black instead of green like most ive seen. I do not know if there's anything o can or should do but i certainly would love to restore it to its former glory bc im going to put it on a plaque its my most prized possession and any response would be MUCH appreciated.

Just clean it and oil it, do as less modifications that you can. Just stop the corrosion and leave it like that.
