A guy at work got his grandfather's knife and wanted me to post pictures to this forum. His grandfather was in the Army but traded his knife for a USMC knife. The butt seems to be pinned to the blade tang.

Nice honest been there done that WW2 knife. A family connection to it too. Those are things that I like in old knives.:applouse::thumbup:

I have one just like what you have in the picture. It was in my step-dad's collection and I have been tryin to find out anything I can about it.

I’d recommend starting here. http://usmilitaryknives.com/okca_1996.htm

Go to (Part V). If you take the time to go thru the other notes from over the years you’ll find a great deal of other information on these as well as so many other U.S. Military blades. You can use the “find” tool to search the individual articles for key words.

You can also us the internet to search for more information. This can lead you to a lot of information. The down side is separating BS from good information. But in this day and age IMHO this is a necessary skill set to develop.
There are also several threads on this sub-forum talking about these knives.
Some keywords that may help would be: KaBar, MKII, MK2, MarkII, Mark2, 1219C2.
