OMG...that's all I can say. This was my first HI and it wont be my last, I already have another on the way. This has been a wonderful experience, I cant think of a purchase I have been more pleased or satisfied with. Everyone here has been just awesome and the wealth of information just adds to the experience.

My heart skipped a bit when I pulled up and saw the triangle box on the porch. I carefully cut the tape away as not to damage any of the contents. I pulled the newspaper wrapped baby out of the triangle box. I then cut the tape that was holding the newspapers around the sheath. I could smell the rich leather the minute I drew back the newspaper... ahhh I will never forget that smell. Smell is the number one thing linked to memory and whenever I smell leather from now on I will be reminded of my first HI kukri.

I then drew the well oil blade from the sheath, it came out with surprising ease, a far cry from the pitiful kukri I got for Ex-Gurhka house (never again with they get my money). The sheath held the blade very securely but only needed moderate pressure to remove the blade. The blade itself is GORGEOUS, It is hard to comprehend how much skill these kami's must have to produce such highly polished masterpieces. The karda and chamak were nicely done in horn. Oh... let me tell you about the amazing horn that this kukri wears. I was worried I would have a boring black handle, but the minute I shined my surefire 6p flashlight on it all worry faded away. I could see nice silver veining running throughout the horn, not enough to weaken the structure...just enough to make it a piece of art.

A true work of art. That's what I consider this kukri, a piece of ARTWORK. Thanks again for all the information everyone has shared with me. I will post pictures of the new kukri once I signup for photobucket or some other site. I will have time this weekend, I will be sure to show it off to everyone...

Glad you enjoy your new HI blade. Awesome isn't it? That was my impression too, after I received my first HI blade, granted, it was a custom, but I say, "WOW", every single time I open a triangle box.

We have a unadvertised rule around here. Pictures or it didn't happen!!!

I always open the triangle box very carefully since I also collect the triangle boxes. I'm think about hanging them kind of like wind chimes, is that called a mural? You know where they hang from string on sticks of different lengths and stuff?

I'm glad your tickled and I knew you would be. You'll never forget the first.

If anyone sends me anything in a triangle box and they don't get the box back, now you know why. You think I'm a triangle box hoarder?

Speaking of that I should have another triangle box maybe even by tomorrow with that lovely Cherokee Rose inside like a prize in a cereal box. Hope auntie don't read this and start sending me empty triangle boxes. That would be painful. Gotta have the prize ya know?
And yes I'll take pictures. Stop nagging..............

So I don't have to deal with the URL crap? I can just browse a jpeg into the forum? How do I request?.... sorry to be a pest but the URL thingy is a pain in the ass. Either way I will post photos, sorry for breaking the "unadvertised rule" but I was just super excited.

photobucket young padawan... free and easy,,
congrats on your new blade,, get those picture goin man! been thining of a WWII too

Ok...all signed up for photobucket. Pictures will be posted tonight after supper ;). Just hope the old lady doesn't get to jealous tonight when I don't pay her any attention .

Tonight after supper he says. So here we sit on our thumbs, tick tock tick tock tick tock. Well guess that's what I'd be doing anyhow, so I'll just wait here patiently.
Please the old lady (never cared for that descriptor, must be why I'm a chick magnet). Have her hold the WWII while you take the photo.

Brilliant I tell ya, simply brilliant.

Grats on a fine purchase, if you have not yet, you should consider a day or two soak in mineral oil for the horn handle, this will hydrate it, most come and ar every dry and should be rehydrated. Just take a bottle cut the top off and put the handle in and fill it with the mineral oil till its covered and let it sit at least a day, wipe it dry and done, you might see some more core come through when your done and the handle will be all set.

Grats berserker. Love is a hard thing to describe, and the beauty is you can love each and every one you get with none of them getting jealous of eachother! Haha

Congrats gurkha berserka!!
I am so glad to hear that the WWII is a treasure. Somehow, I had a feeling that the WWII was going to be a good swap to replace your original choice when that wasn't available. Sort of amazing how that all seems to work out. Every one of us here has that first triangle box indelibly marked in our memories. The good news is that each new triangle box is still an incredible feeling of anticipation and joy.

Pugs' sage wisdom is well worth reading. These travel from Nepal to Auntie in Reno to you. The changes in temperature and humidity will stress the horn so rehydrating it as soon as possible is very beneficial. I know it means that you can't pick it up all the time. Believe me, I have the same problem. But it might keep that gorgeous horn from splitting. So please consider getting it soaking soon.

Oh you can pick it up all the time, just need to wipe your hands off when you put it back in the bottle. Actually picking it up and massaging the handle might be beneficial. Tend to the blades spiritual needs so to speak.

Soft music and a candle might be pushing it just a bit but hey, whatever works your you ya know?

Thank you all so very much for everything. Your comments and opinions have steered me in the right direction. I am glad I ended up getting the WWII for my first HI... from what I understand it was one of Uncle Bill's favorites.

I will definitely take your advice pug, it sounds like a great idea. Oh and yes I will definitely impart my "soul" unto this blade. It is already impossible for me to put down. I want to develop muscle memory with it much like I have with my firearms. Its not leaving my hands tonight haha... I am looking at it as I write and can hardly resist unsheathing it.

Well here are the long awaited photos. Please excuse the amateurish pics, my iphones camera has seen its better days. Enjoy and thank you very very much Auntie for such a quality piece at such a wonderful price. I will cherish it forever!

I cant wait for my next Villager model to arrive in a couple days.

Pictures not too clear, does it look like a bow and arrow? That would be Bhakta. Looks like the might be a flag instead of an arrow though so I'm not sure. On the left side there, opposite the UB?

Its definitely a bow and arrow. Sorry for the crappy pics but I think phillll and bawanna nailed it. Its Bhakta for sure

He's good and he makes most of the bowies so you'll probably have more of his bowies.

Oh we didn't mention the bowieitis disease yet did we. Well no sense worrying none about that till you get it.

It's highly contagious, not painful, and some actually enjoys it, sick bastards.

I have a bhakta ww2 as well and it is a fine knife, you will not be disappointed in its performance.

bowitis is def contagious, I remember when it spread....
