WWII 18in Arrived!!!!

Thats an exceptional looking WWII! Definitely looks like Bhakta Kami.
He's good and he makes most of the bowies so you'll probably have more of his bowies.

Oh we didn't mention the bowieitis disease yet did we. Well no sense worrying none about that till you get it.

It's highly contagious, not painful, and some actually enjoys it, sick bastards.
Who you talkin about Mr.B:D

Knice Knife! Lucky man. You fulfilled your part of the bargain by posting photos, now tell Bawanna to post photos of that wind-chime!

Beautiful WWII, I agree with the others, looks like Bhakta to me, he makes really good stuff, knows his steel...:)

Congrats!

OMG...that's all I can say. This was my first HI and it wont be my last, I already have another on the way. This has been a wonderful experience, I cant think of a purchase I have been more pleased or satisfied with. Everyone here has been just awesome and the wealth of information just adds to the experience.

My heart skipped a bit when I pulled up and saw the triangle box on the porch. I carefully cut the tape away as not to damage any of the contents. I pulled the newspaper wrapped baby out of the triangle box. I then cut the tape that was holding the newspapers around the sheath. I could smell the rich leather the minute I drew back the newspaper... ahhh I will never forget that smell. Smell is the number one thing linked to memory and whenever I smell leather from now on I will be reminded of my first HI kukri.

I then drew the well oil blade from the sheath, it came out with surprising ease, a far cry from the pitiful kukri I got for Ex-Gurhka house (never again with they get my money). The sheath held the blade very securely but only needed moderate pressure to remove the blade. The blade itself is GORGEOUS, It is hard to comprehend how much skill these kami's must have to produce such highly polished masterpieces. The karda and chamak were nicely done in horn. Oh... let me tell you about the amazing horn that this kukri wears. I was worried I would have a boring black handle, but the minute I shined my surefire 6p flashlight on it all worry faded away. I could see nice silver veining running throughout the horn, not enough to weaken the structure...just enough to make it a piece of art.

A true work of art. That's what I consider this kukri, a piece of ARTWORK. Thanks again for all the information everyone has shared with me. I will post pictures of the new kukri once I signup for photobucket or some other site. I will have time this weekend, I will be sure to show it off to everyone...

I love reading this stuff. Another much-more-than-satisfied customer of HI.

Damn that is nice, what an amazing blade. Ugh, I have a KLVUK on the way and now I want a WWII >_< no, no...must first take my KLVUK and CAK out to the bush and see if just need any middle ground before buying another one...maybe.

Nothing wrong with having three of them in the mail at once Dan! Better have your excuses lined up tho if your married. Oh heck your from Australia. You could easily have eight or ten of them in the mail;)

I've been on my way to Australia my whole life, always wanted to go there. Ole Mick Dundee just made me want to go even worse. Then the whole gun control thing hit, never figured something like that would happen there. I give up the trip, never made it too far cept in my head. I was close in my head, I been a lot of places in my head.
I don't know just for sure where I'm at right now in my head but I'll keep ya posted.

I gotta go work on my wind chime, some around here are mighty short on patience. Me included.

Gorgeous WWII! The WWII is definitely on my short list of khukuris to get. Congrats on your first HI blade!

Thats a great looking piece of steel. I really like the visual balance of how long it stays narrow from the handle. I guess thats due to its 18" length. Great catch, dont you loved dealing with auntie and not waiting for months to have it in your hands

I noticed the blade shape right away too. It just feels so good in the hand, it feels almost alive in my hand. The handle shape, blade design, and balance point translate into a "living" blade. I had thought the handle might be to thin for my large hands but the thinner grip with its slightly curved bade for a extremely well handling kukri. Thanks for all the wonderful comments.

Will they even let khuks through Australian customs??? :/

It usually depends on the customs office/officer.
Although the khukuri are specifically stated on the official Australian customs site as not being restricted, Auntie has had shipments denied/returned several times and told they were illegal items. She and I both have also had khukuri shipments reach their destination in Oz without any problem.
