WWII buttcap fix?

I've used non bondini superglues to great results with horn repair. If Bondini is better then it must be on another level. I recently followed something Rusty wrote about continuing to apply, even to large cracks. The crack I treated recently took many deep applications but closed. I did a dumb thing as I worked, wiping the stray glue off with a tissue paper. The paper stuck,of course. I could scrape the regular surface clean but not the crack. But the glue seemed to disinigrate the paper into a fibrous form filler, making subsequent applications easier and final. I now wonder if this isn't a good thing.

When I took the 15" AK out to test with my six year old, I allowed him to use the Khuk against a rotten aspen log and some smaller branches on a berry vine. He loved it. The black flies had hatched here recently and were aggravating. On the way in I carelessly swatted at one and managed to strike the blade with a finger, cutting it. This was the first time I'd cut myself with a khuk since owning my first 6 months ago. I remember a thread here called tribute.

I wiped some of the blood off on the repaired section of handle, figuring if the khuk was thirsty he could drink there. Later I wiped down the handle with hooflex and saw no blood residue.

Those proteins should make the handle crack even stronger....
