WWII vets have stated that these knives were issued with and without bale. This one without bale was more desired because it didn't get hung up in pocket at crustal moments. 4 1/4" closed, this is the standard paratrooper size. Blade snaps open very strong and lock works. Both sides of handles suffer some damage. Some pitting on end caps. Blade is outstanding. It looks like factory edge and finish. These knives are getting very hard to find and therefore very expensive. The appeal to both military and knife collectors. I'm offering it at a very reasonable price.
