www.bantangknives.com is up

Will customers need to inquire for pricing?

I too like overall layout and appearance of the site. Easy to navigate and well-organized. It looks very clean and simple too. I hope that you will add some information on pricing. One annoyance of mine is when vendors, from photographers to restaurants to knifemakers, don't give me ANY idea of their price range. I don't need exact figures, just a general idea of if I'm wasting my time looking at your product. "Small knives starting at $300 depending on steel and handle materials" would be sufficient, for example. Even put up a more detailed pricing PDF so you can easily make updates/changes without going through the whole site.

sweet.. now perhaps this summer I'll get a BT4 variant and/or chefs knife from you.. and that pocket bowie :D keep up the great work!

Hey Ban,
Just checked out the new site, looks great! Beautiful photos, easy navigation, very good stuff.

I'm sorry I missed you in Atlanta. I was basically in a daze for three days. Pretty overwhelming the first time, especially trying to make all those connections for a new maker like myself. I missed out on tons of people and stuff, but I had a blast. I'll just have to schedule better next year! :)

nice site ban! I've been doing some website and graphics a good bit work myself lately. looks like you have it under cottol but let me know if you need anything.

oh and the gallery pics aren't showing up on my iPhone. it's always something with phones an module devices. just have totest as many as you can. even if you can't fix it it's always good to be aware of the reasons.

Your site is great, pictures are perfect. I do very much agree about pricing in some way, shape, or form. Burke is right on with his post. Nothing more annoying than finding something you love on a website and not being able to even find a hint of what it's price is, as a buyer it really is a turn off. Not all folks know of bladeforms or like sights to have any idea what your pricing is. We all know because this is where you hang out and sell, always think of outside the forum potential customers.

gimmerjr, then that should be noted :) and some idea of pricing is good, even if it is a range due to steels or variants/customs.

Lazi- so then perhaps the photo gallery is flash.. and apple is anti flash, so there it is..

Also.. if I recall, Ban will correct me/us or not :D, he isn't full time yet and working towards that idea.. so the website is best as a gallery with intent to entice interest. People can email him once on his site if they are truly looking to buy a knife...

O_O just my 2 cents on those topics..

Thanks for the input and feedback folks. I will look into updating the site with some basic base prices and specs. I use way too many different materials and have too many options to even try starting a comprehensive price list.

Lazi,
The gallery is using slidepro show and not Flash. I specifically chose not to use flash on my site because I know that it does not work with Apple OS. Not sure why it wouldn't show up on the iphone. Will look into when I get a chance.

For such large price variance because of materials a price listed with a pic on the site with "as shown" may be the way to go. Such and such knife, as shown in pic, price is whatever. Maybe a little note at the bottom of the page with something to the effect of what has been stated, prices vary based on materials used.... or prices shown are for reference only, actual price varies based on xyz.

Anyway, great site Ban. Very well done. Clean, neat, and organized. ( works fine on Android :) )

Started updating the site with more specs and basic pricing.

Yup, looking good so far

Now that Blade is over, we can start putting that FAQ together. After this weekend :D

iPhones and mobile devices introduced a whole new gang of crap to deal with when it comes to putting up websites. my only suggestion is to have alternate ways to display images. that's one of the big plusses to social networking sites. they spend all the time and money working out the kinks for you. usually..

as for the pricing... it would likely be easier to add a "click for price" link to each item that directs to a page explaining the pricing policies. Also providing a list of materials and ball parking figures for a blade size based on each of the most common materials would help customers get a feel for the prices. I would include some disclaimers and a what to expect from new materials and time frames. You are probably at the mecry of suppliers and sometimes customers don't factor that into their expectations when it comes to a purchase. Maybe also start a blog or news page that states what materials you currently have in and/or are working with. Spend most time updating that rather than changing the menu.

Doing a good job so far but i hope you get to spend most of your time making great knives and not admining a website.

last comment, might want to get rid of the wp folder and have the site pages only showing up @ ".com"...
