First off ,I want to say that I've been a customer of this company for the past few years and they have treated me well. They have promptly responded to my emails and other requests but lately they have taken a week or so to respond to my emails. The service now stinks, the prices are higher than the competition now from a few years ago and the stock levels are not at what the once were.

In December of last year,I placed an order for a bunch of stuff with Island Tactical, a few of the items were then out of stock as there website stated but I made an order anyways. The following day(Dec 12,2007),I received an email stating that 4 of the 6 items were out of stock that they will be in stock in a few weeks and ask me what I wanted to do.So I emailed them the next day(Dec 13,2006), told them that I would wait for the Back order items to arrive and then have it delivered in one shipment.

They get back to me(January 10,2007) about 4 weeks later and say that it should be shipped latter next week. When that date rolled around,I send them an email asking the status of my order.
On Feb 14,2007 I was emailed with a status of my order and the 4 items are still not available to be shipped.
On Feb 26,2007 I get an updated apologizing for the delay and asking what I would like to do,stating that two of the item can not be stocked a Blue Mini Maglite Led and a Camillus Heat.
On Feb 27,2007 I emailed and said that I would like to wait for the Benchmade Skirmish which has been on backorder to arrive before they ship and ask why they aren't able to ship the Camillus Heat I ordered.
On March 5,2007 they respond saying Camillus is no longer making knives and state they maybe going out of business.
On March 19,2007 I get a package in the mail for 3 of the 6 item that I ordered.Promptly the next day(March 20,2007),I ask them why the Benchmade Skirmish was not shipped and they responded by saying that they have been waiting forever for those by asked whether I was interested in the smaller limited edition 635 in blue.
On April 13,2007 I responded by saying that I would be willing to wait a month or two for the Skirmish 630 to arrive and that I was not interested in the 635.The same day(April 13,2007), they respond by saying that sounds good and signing off as Jason of Island Tactical.
On May 7,2007 Benchmade responds to my email stating that I should contact them and have them contact Benchmade for a little more precise Back order date.
On May 10,2007 I tell them that I contacted Benchmade and told them what they told me to ask them.
On May 21,2007, Jason of Island Tactical tells,"They are just telling me that they are delayed and do not have an expected ship date."
On June 11,2007 I email them stating that I've decided to cancel the back order for the Skirmish and that I would like a refund for the items not shipped including the backorder. Noting I would reorder the Skirmish at a latter date.
On July 8,2007 I shot them an email stating that I haven't heard from them in some time, that below was the email I sent on June 11,2007 and I was wondering how the refund is coming along.Because,Last week,I received my Visa Credit card Statement and noticed there wasn't a credit issued for $236.00 for the Benchmade Skirmish that was backordered and other cancelled items.I also want to clarify that I've decided that I cancel my backorder for the Skirmish because I've been waiting for over 7 months.

Below is their Back Order Policy

"You may then choose to cancel, exchange or wait for the item to arrive.
If a lengthy delay occurs, usually beyond 30 days, we will cancel your order (unless otherwise requested) and issue a refund for prepayments.Of course, you may cancel your order, modify or change a backorder at any time before it is shipped. We will send you a refund for unshipped merchandise on cancelled orders."

On July 11,2007 I resent the same email from July 8,2007.Since then and now (Sept 2007), they have yet to get back to me now and it been months since their last response to my emails. It clear they are avoiding me since I have tried emailing them over a couple dozen times.
I also have contact my bank that issued my Credit card and they told me that there is a 3 month window for charge backs. The bank has nothing to do with Visa, only record keeping. And that it's Visa policy, that there is not much that they can do,.That I should call them up on the phone and talk to them and have them credit my credit card which I have tried but found that their phone # is no longer in service and that they have recently moved to a new location. The week,I made a visit to www.islandtactical.com ,to find that their website is under construction.

I have yet to contact my credit card issued to sort this out, since this takes time from my day.

I recently googled them and have found two previous customers that posted negative experience comments with this company.I would definitely not order anything or recommend them even if they had a sale where prices were lower than the competition like the past.

File a dispute/charge back with your credit card company. It doesn't take long to run through the process. As an example, the time it took you to compose your post. . . . .you could have filed a dispute/charge back and had time to sip a cold one.

More often than not. . . . .we are our own worst enemy. ;)

Typically, the dispute must be in writing and sent to a special address for disputes, not the regular payment address.

I called the issuer of my Visa Card and their response again is that I had 90 Days to request a chargeback. So I got them to show me where it said that in the card holder aggreement that I had 90 days for Chargebacks which they were not able to find it.But said further it is a policy of VISA and that there was nothing they could do for me and that I should contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint.

I also noted that I had unsuccessfully tried to contact them by phone(which is disconnected) and by email for months(several dozen email, all were successfully sent) that Jason Fledderjohn,President of Island Tactical was not responding back to me.And I got the same reponse that they couldn't do anything.

So,I went to the Southern Nevada BBB did a search of "Island Tactical" and came back with several complaints against this company.
