www.knifepurveyor.com Michael Donato...Top Notch Service!

I'm impressed but not surprised. Mike is as good as they get!

What Jim said. Michael is one of the good ones.

Guys,

Thanks for the kind words. I greatly appreciate it. I am always an e-mail or phone call away if I can be of any assistance. Please do not hesistate to contact me if you have questions, needs or concerns. I am happy to help if I can.

Just wanted to send this one back up again. Most recently, Michael helped me negotiate a great price on a knife that another dealer had. He certainly didn't have to do that, but he knew the piece was important to me and would be a great addition to my collection.

It was very unselfish of him and it really puts Michael on even more of a plateau than he already was. As a sign of my appreciation, I will be paying Michael a finder fee, but I don't think he would expect me to do so.

I am telling you folks, if you have custom knife needs and wants (buying or selling), give Michael a shout.

I couldn't agree more....Michael's service is top notch. He went out of his way to communicate with me on a knife purchase, often calling and emailing outside of "normal" business hours to make sure I was happy.
When I mentioned another knife he had on his site that I would love to get (but was just too much for me to spend) he quickly recommended another site that had a very similar knife for quite a bit less.
Definitely one of the good guys.

I just had to revisit this post.

Michael has helped me several more times since I originally made this post. A few months back, there was a Bennica folder that I really wanted although it was in another dealer's inventory. Michael was able to negotiate a better deal that I was able to and still left some room for me to attempt to pay him for his services. Again, if you are looking for a specific piece, you will want to let Michael know about it. He can either find it for you or he can probably negotiate a better price for you. Not to mention the fact that he already has one of the best inventories in the business. Take a look at his site:

Also, most recently, Michael and his very lovely new bride were gracious enough to show my wife and I around New York City. Michael even picked us up at the airport at 10:30 at night!! How's that for customer dedication?

Admittedly, we have become great friends at this point, but this friendship was built on the trust and success in our customer/purveyor relationship. Michael will soon be relocating to Maryland, so I have already started teasing him he will have to learn about Washington DC and give us another tour someday!

Folks, there is no other dealer/seller in any industry that has served me better. Call Michael and let him know what you are interested in even if you aren't immediately shopping for something. You may find that he calls you back with the right piece at the right time for you! Michael is also a purveyor of other fine things, so even it if you are looking for a fine watch or a piece of art work....give him a shout!

I had to update this thread with some more information about how Michael continues to provide the best service possible.

I recently needed to sell a few pieces to create funds for some Bennica knives I wanted to purchase. Michael worked very hard to let his customers know that my knives had become available. He was able to find buyers quickly.

Michael was able to sell at prices such that I did not incur any losses. On one particular knife, I had bought it really well a few years ago, so I was fortunate enough to make a little on the resale of it.

You might say that you should try to make money anytime that you sell something from your collection, but in this case, time was of the essence and these were expensive pieces (not easy to find buyers at this price range). Michael really delivered for me! His clients that bought my knives are very happy as well as they were still able to buy below the market value.

Thank you Michael, I could not have obtained these new Bennicas without all of your help.

Hi, I just wanted to post another update regarding Michael's insurmountable level of service to his customers.

Michael had ordered a knife for me from a maker and the piece was to be delivered in April. In order to pay for this piece I had been trying diligently to sell another custom that was beautiful and perfectly made, but it was quite expensive and it had a very specific engraving theme on it....finding the right buyer had been very difficult.

Michael had worked very hard to sell this piece for me and he found a few buyers, but these buyers had to change their mind at the last minute for one reason or another.

So, it was crunch time for me and Michael had the brilliant idea of asking the maker of this piece to display it on his table at a show (as pre-owned). Since this maker is known for always selling out at shows, it turned out this was the best plan. The knife sold immediately at the show.

Michael also sold me the new piece at a greatly discounted price....a large percentage less than I have seen on other dealer sites.

Thank you Michael for all the help and customer service you provide!

It is approaching three years since I started this thread and Michael never ceases to amaze me.

Even in this horrid economy, he has been able to sell a few high end pieces for me at great prices.

He continues to work with other dealers to trade or negotiate the prices of pieces I am interested in.

I have been able to snag a great deal or two in the Special Values section of his website.

He is still a true friend and my favorite Knife Purveyor!

Just another update.

Here's just another great story about how Michael has helped me time and time again. Michael had a Bennica knife recently that I had my eye on, but finances were very short. I had a nice minty watch that I didn't desire as much as that Bennica. Michael took the watch to one of the knife shows and instantly turned it into a down payment on the Bennica! He knew that life had recently thrown me a foul deal in an $ extended trip to buy a car and he wanted to help a friend out....he wouldn't take any commission for selling the watch.
How's that for service!? It's just another example of how he comes through for his customers/friends time and time again.
BTW, if you know Michael, he's got some exciting life changes coming his way very soon...send baby toys. :)
Thanks Michael for all you do! You're the best!

Just checking in to give another update of Michael's phenomenal service. He recently posted another masterpiece that I absolutely had to have.

It was a consignment piece and I had to ask Michael if he would approach the owner about lowering the price a bit.
We looked at recent sales prices of similar pieces and all agreed on a price that we could each live with.

Part 1 done, but I still had to sell another piece to generate half of the funds.

Michael went to work and reached out to his network of collectors. He found a buyer that got a great deal on my knife, I was able to make my purchase, and of course the original owner of my new knife made his sale. Three happy customers in 1 deal!

I owe Michael big time for making this happen. I just haven't encountered anyone else in the business that will work this hard to make it all happen.

Thank you so much Michael!

Just time for a long overdue update to this thread.
Michael continues to provide me with a service level that I can't get elsewhere.
I recently made a knife purchase from an individual and it wasn't what I had hoped for.
The sale was finalized, and the seller was inflexible.
Rather than engaging in that conflict, Michael just stepped in and offered his services.
In no time, he had a buyer located for the piece...(who didn't have the same objection that I had).
At the same time, one of his other clients had a knife that I wanted and they were ready to lower their price to something I could reach.
So in the end, Michael helped me get out of a deal that didn't work for me, he pleased another client that loved the piece, he helped another client sell a piece that had been for sale for a while, and I got to add a fabulous new custom to my collection at a great price! Win for all!
Michael, here's a glass raised to you sir. You are a true professional, you shine like a light, and you have created a network of admiring friends through your personality, your dedication, and your can do attitude.
Thank you Michael for everything!

Just wanted to keep the kudos to Michael alive. He continues to bend over backward to assist me with my collection.
Wether I am buying or selling, Michael is always putting in the extra effort to help me out.
His business has reached a level that he has brought in some employees and all that I can say is that they strive to meet Michael's high expectations on delivering exceptional customer service.
The growth in the knifepurveyor.com business is a direct result of Michael and his team continuing to give their customers the type of service detailed in this thread.
Thank you to team at knifepurveyor....please keep up the great work!

Resurrecting this thread to add that Michael is first class. Extremely helpful and accommodating, dealing with him was a pleasure. One of my best knife transactions.
