X-Timer. One handed opening

I picked up an x timer at the hardware store for $21.00. Its pretty decent, I think. I find the disc that is used to open the knife one handed is very tough to use. My thumb is taking a pounding as I try to "break it in".

Is it just a matter of breaking it in or is there a "technique" to opening with one hand?

Hiya Shann...
I have mine right here at my desk, and while it is not the silky smooth thumb opener as some of my high dollar knives, it doesn't give me much problem. It is a long, long push with the thumb to get it fully open, though. Did you oil the joint? That made all the difference in mine (I think I have about three of them, stashed around here). Although Schrade isn't around to honor the warranty, perhaps the hardware store can make it right if the knife is defective.

Yeah, I did oil the joint. It seemed to help a little. I don't thinnk its defective at all, its just stiff. The disc just doesn't seem to give as good a grip as the stud. I'm sure I'll loosen it up in time.
