XD inspired EDC

Designed this one around one of my favorite handguns. The Springfield XDM
D-2 60 Rc. O.D. Green GunKote, Black canvas micarta slabs, Millwork and 20 lpi. thumb grooves.
6 1/2" Overall length 1 1/4" wide 3/16" thick.

Thanks, The profile is a standard model I make. I just milled some blood grooves. I left them rough like a milled receiver on an AK. The groove down the spine feels pretty good, this may become a new feature on my blades. O.D. green and black is sharp on anything.

That knife is SICK man! I do love me some D2. I'm looking for something like that. The knife in my pic is similar, and I have yet to be able to get one.

I would like to try some of the gun coatings out on my knives but I have not figured out a simple way to handle the spine. I grind the scales to the spine after glue up. It looks like you bolt your scales on after GunKote is applied to the the blade.

Yeah, these are bolted there are two threaded bushings in the tang, the inside of the scales are counter bored to fit the bushing so the scales line up. I bolt the rough scales on and completely finish them, then I beadblast, clean and Gunkote the blade. Put the scales on with some fresh screws and the fit is perfect because of the bushings. Eventualy the Gunkote will get scratched, or blemished that's why I chose this method of mounting the scales. I can simply take the scales off reblast and rekote.
