On the Cold Steel site they listed a limited edition of the Engage in XHP. It doesn’t say CTS-XHP but I presume Carpenter is the supplier even though under the specs it says it’s a CPM steel so take it as you may. Anyone know if XHP is a specific steel to Carpenter? Maybe they just have to update the site. Link:

I don't really know what to make of it. It will probably be a collectible due to there's only so many going to be made. But it is awful expensive. Too expensive for my blood anyway. I do have some cold steel Carpenter bd1 blades. I don't know the difference between the two metals. But I find the carpenter is difficult for me to sharpen sometime. Is the xhp good stuff?

My cts xhp from previous CS folders has been quite good. But I would never pay a street price of 350.00 for them. Or half that.

Seems like SOG is still using it in some of their folders. As heat treated by Cold Steel, it’s my favorite steel for folders that I’ve tried.
Yes I love it. I did see SOG still uses it, they cryo it according to them. I wonder though if it’s truly out of production and will soon be swapped for S35VN or similar when the supply runs out. I do think GSM owning both companies and someone knowing the legendary XHP models are in demand led to this but I need to know if they are doing old models again in XHP!!! But no one is saying. ☠️ I guess time will tell. But I am curious if the XHP is really done for.

Carpenter is just weird, and have stringent rules. Often requiring very large quantities, making it prohibit to use. They are their own worst enemy. It’s just easier for companies to buy from Crucible.

Worst thing about the engage is when you flip it closed the blade bounces closed then back open because theres no detent only the spring tension. its very annoying.

Someone is saying Carpenter no longer produces XHP and the supply is just about gone.
I’m not sure if that’s true.
Jeez. Good thing I just got the CTS XHP XL Espada, and for $50 less than this dang thing!

This is good because I need a "user" fancy Espada. Good thing I got some XHP if it really is going away.

I have no idea if that’s true but that’s super nice. So now your beater is the (S35?-AUS8?) fancy one? Very cool
