THIS PIECE IS SOLD
This is an Extra Large Walnut Billet you can use to cut your own knife handle blocks exactly the way you want them. This piece was cut Flat Sawn from a section of the trunk that had large areas of burl. You can cut 1 inch strips along the long edge for quartersawn blocks or cut wider strips and then split the thickness for a different look. You should be able to get at least 20 really good blocks from this piece. It all depends on how you want to cut this piece.
Some of the knife makers on this forum have been buying pieces like this from me over the last few years. You could keep the best blocks for yourself and sell the rest and at least double your money. All the while giving your friends good deals on hard to find wood like this.
I have trimmed away most of the waste but there will still be some checks or voids that you will need to remove as you cut the blocks. With a piece like this there is enough wood that you can experiment cutting some pieces as end grain, some quartersawn and some flat sawn for a variety of bizarre looking pieces.
The photos show the wood misted with water so you can see the figure and colors. I have had this piece stored inside for about 3 years. It feels plenty dry. It has only been sanded to 60 grit. When you fine sand and finish this wood it will look even better.
I am so sure you will love this piece that it comes with a no questions asked, money back guarantee. Shipping UPS Ground in the Continental US will probably cost about $20.
Just say "I'll take it" and then send me a PM with your shipping address. That way I can get exact shipping cost for you.
