This pocket size kit is a complete dis-assembly tool. It includes a built in spanner wrench, which makes it very easy to hold both the wrench and the knife at the same time. The head unscrews from the main body, it has a precisely machined screw driver blade that matches the slot on the pivot screw of the XM-18. The head will also hold any standard 1/4" bit. In the case of the XM-18 it is a 5/64" hex that will work on the handle screws. The crossed drilled hole in the male end is there so you can use it as a "T" handle for extra torque. These are made from 17-4 PH hardened stainless steel, with a bead blast finish.

I ordered one a week ago
can't wait to get it and start fine tuning some pivots

I have one of these and it's VERY well made,,, heavier then you'd expect aswell,,,

Hello,Rob, dont know if you ck. in here often, but i sure would like to order one or two of these. have no need of the ti. version. thanks.

Anyone thinking about getting one of these, my advice - Don't wait!
Great tool, typical Hinderer over-built Quality. As Rob mentioned, not only everything you need in one well done package but...
what I like especially is you can hold the tool AND the knife at the same time. (The home made field-expedient tools simply can't do that and you risk a scratch or damage) If you are going to sustain a scratch do you really want it to be avoidable during an interaction that was supposed to be enjoyable like a scale swap?
The tool looks great in the photo BUT in your hand it exudes Quality.
If you love your Hinderer and/or the Hobby - treat yourself.

Rob,

I bought one (the Ti one) from one of your vendors, who swore it would work with ALL XM-18's. Since much to my chagrin I learned the 5/64 bit does not work with my 3", can I exchange my 5/64 bit for the 1/16 Hex bit?

I tried a local hardware store AND the internet but could only find 3/32 bits, no 1/16 Hex with a 1/4 base.

Any chance you could help me. If so, I'll PM you with my mailing info and mail you my 5/64 bit. Locutus.

PS: After some advanced searching, I found and ordered this bit off Amazon: 'Aven 13200-HX116 "AntiCor" SS Hex Bit, Size 1/16"'. If you think that it will fit in the tool device (it is SS so I don't know if the magnet will hold it), disregard my request. I'll receive it (next week), and know for sure if it works.

I don't think anyone noticed this was a 2-year-old thread bump ;)

I hope so. But if it doesn't, I'll keep looking. Apparently 1/16" is very rare, the Aven company had only one left, and I could not find one anywhere else. Or maybe 3" owners are scooping them up. Happy Mayan end of world day, Maprik.

Thanks! I heard that a bunch of Mayan people disappeared today in South America and a couple living in Brooklyn.

I found some online.

These should be back on the site Wednesday or Thursday.

I can vouch for seeing the various components and final packaging all staged awaiting final assembly, but Rob was far too distracted on Friday to complete that task....he should be well rested after the Holiday...
