XM-18 Arrived today!!!!!

LOL!

Too bad you posted pics and ruined the "mystery" though...

"the mystery of the ripped off forum member" haha instant classic!!!! too bad i dont ever plan on selling it !!! but is it sick to already want a hand ground version??? do i have a sickness?? haha

Congratulations on the awesome knife. I got my 3rd Gen XM-18 flipper about a month ago and have been using it daily. Enjoy your knife!!:D

Congrats on the score. The XM-18 is my overall favorite knife. That thing must've cost you at least, what $1100+?

Without knowing how much of a "Rich Man" he is we'll never be able to guess the price...

I love the XM-18, I'd get the flipper'd version though. I just wish Rick would let Kershaw do a production run of them for meer mortals with finite bank accounts, and mortgages...and stuff. :)

That would be amazing. The fit and finish of my 301 is better than my pt. My only issue is it is a little large and I am not a fan of recurves. If kershaw did the xm series, I would love it. Doubt this would ever happen though.

oh yeah, a ZT version of the XM-18 would surely kick arse!

I think ZT knives are like Boris's take on the gun in Snatch---"heavy is good, heavy is sign of reliability, if it doesn't work you can always hit him with it."

I think if ZT makes any design on the smaller side it will be absolutely awesome. Gerber sort of has an production XM-like design in their Hinderer Combat Rescue knife, or whichever one it is. They seem pretty cheap to me though, certainly not hearkening back to their source. Now a ZT version...so long as they can keep its depth under two inches, THAT would be absolutely awesome. in4one

Pretty much the triple threat right there! Congrats on the new score!

And now for the final question... Which one do you like best!

I did indeed say it has Teflon washers... If I'm incorrect someone please correct me!!

Huh...I'm sure Mr. Hinderer has a good reason for using exactly what is used, but I would have expected diamond or adamantium or at least bronze phosphorous. Does it have any blade play when open (and don't baby it when you check just so you can say no:cool:)? I have had a couple of SOGs which Teflon washers, and they always seem to have play. Then again, there could be other reasons for that...

Yeah, ZT would be my candidate for doing an XM-18 production knife.

Not Hint of play what so ever!!!!! My strider has play and that is also a 400 dollar knife but this thing really is solid!!! I'm super impressed with the tightness and tollerances of this knife!! If it had wobble I'd say soo!! My one concern is the early
lock ip which is at about 30 to 40 % but it's soo tight I'm trying not to worry about it!!!

Wicked! Well congrats on what sounds like a superlatively designed and executed knife. One day I hope to get there too...one day.:)

Absolutely no blade play in mine and its seen quite a bit of use with no special treatment. Ive wondered about the teflon washers also or they may be nylotron which is supposed to be stronger. In my parts catalogue the nylotron washers cost a penny more than the phospho-bronze:eek: so maybe its an upgrade? My 11 yr old AFCK had teflon and so does my Elishewitz custom and no play in them either. Im mentally in favor of metal over composite... but motor mounts are composite. Maybe theres a reason?

A couple of comments here. Teflon washers are my favorite washers. Yuna also uses Teflon washers and they give the knife incredibly smooth action. Second 30%-40% is the ideal lockup if you have well made custom knife. That amount of lockup will ensure you many years of use without the lockbar touching the other side of the frame. If I get a custom and it has more than 40% I would think somethings wrong. I want to reassure you that you got a awesome knife my friend.
