I have owned the SMF DGG and the XM. Just recently did a review on youtube of my experience with the XM and my first video was on the SMF...maybe that will help some??
I have had issues with both but sold the strider first. I just sold the hinderer but that is because I have a flipper on the way and needed the $ to pay for it.
I do not think f&f are comparable nor do I think your ownership experience with the knife company itself will be dissapointing (with rick hinderer). There is a certain attitude with strider that turns me off and an attitude of "we will take care of whatever you need" from hinderer that makes it more of a joy to own.
In terms of use I think the xm is more comfortable. The titanium slabs and the blade are thicker on the xm so it is probably more durable. I prefer the extra ti slab on the xm because I can swap out various colors and it is probably bettef for longer term maintenance.
Hope this helps.
