I'm the first owner of the skinner, and second(at least) owner of the slicer. The skinner has cut a couple things(plastic bags), you can't really tell by looking at it. As far as I know, the slicer has never cut anything. The Skinner has a pretty strong detent, flips well. The slicer has a weaker detent. it opens pretty easily with the thumb studs. It's weak enough that I'd keep the clip configured for tip-up if I was going to keep it. (both knives have been switched to tip-up).
