What would you choose? Fatty with shorter blade and similar thickness as xm24?

Sorry if this is a rook question, but since I don't know much about Hinderers I have to ask: what exactly makes it a fatty?

I was wondering the same thing. It seems to be , the blade is thicker than the XM bowie I have at the shop.

The fatty is just an XM-18 with a blade the thickness of the XM-24. They made 8 customs some time ago and then they just released less than 200 about a few weeks ago. I have not checked the for sale thread but I know when we got our 12 in they sold out in less than 15 minutes. They were cool but also very very limited for a run of Hinderer knives.

I personally love my XM-18 and my 24 skinner. The 18 I typically carry during the work week and the 24 is more for heavy use on the weekends. Which one to get is more of a personal preference. The fatty did not weigh much more than an 18. I want to say it was about .4 ounces of difference. I would say if you like bigger knives go with a 24, you will have no regrets. If not the 18 is awesome and still a good size knife. Either way you will be getting an awesome knife that you will want to keep forever!

I'd choose XM24. I like fat blades but XM18 is too short to be as fat as Xm24.

I have owned maybe a dozen XM18's over the last 10 years. The fatty is my new edc and favorite XM18. The point of the XM is overbuilt and the fatty is that in spades, it's like going "all in". The fatty is super beef but still small enough for edc. I've never owned a XM24 they seem too big for my edc preferences.

The lighting isn't great but here's a few quick pics with a ZT0620 (.156" thick blade) and Sebenza 25 (.140" thick blade). I believe the fatty is a .187" blade but I can't remember exactly...
