Does anyone know if RHK will do a re-blade on a 3.5? If so, how much? The current knife question still functions and works but after a few more times sharpening the edge will be close to the top of the choil.

I figured I would ask here before contacting them if anyone has dealt with this before.

I recently bought my first xm 3” and knicked the edge and called them and asked, the lady said I would have to buy a new knife and that they custom matched ground each one to match the lock. But then look at crk and they will re blade so what’s the difference? Answer idk but what I was told! Any way hope it helps

I thought all their knives were meant to be modular lol. I'm just guessing they don't want to go through the hassle of making a new specific blade. I wouldn't care the blade style or grind but it's about to render the choil useless for it's intended purpose.. Just because the knife is actually used and sharpened.

I'd call
According to their forum:
Parts

"We do sell the following knife hardware - handle screws, clip screws, pivot washers, and filler tabs. If you need a filler tab please contact us, there are links below for the other small parts.

We DO NOT sell: Folding knife blades, locksides, liners, pivots, stop pins, thumbstuds, or handle nuts. If your knife requires one of these parts contact us for service."

I've just always heard they don't do the service so I was asking... The community first and then them. As I said I don't need it right now because it's a knife and functions so it can wait until I contact them but in the time being I figured asking others.

I didn't see that on the website so I must've over looked it

How do you sharpen the blade? On a machine? There are ways to fix the problem you are having. Where the edge meets the choil, you need to open up the choil slighlty by angling the cutting edge upwards.

Believe me It’s true, around four weeks ago I sent a couple of XM-24’s, blade play when closed. Hinderer himself told me they could not fix them because the blades have a reprofile/sharpened causing the problem with the stop pin....so he sent them back, after he said they could be fixed for me. I even offered to pay for the repair. I sent the knives back to Josh at REK, the one who did the work for me. Come to find out, Josh’s work had nothing to do with the problem! I emailed Hinderer photos and a you tube video Josh made for me....
Josh is 100% the man to send your knives to! 100% customer service! He repaired What Hinderer should have done!

I got a email from Mr Hinderer around noon, wants me to ship my knives back for repair. What do y'all think? Did someone read this and pass it forward?

He changed the stop pin gen3 to Gen4. All the XM-24's are gen3..little detent work on the other.

I find it disappointing to hear that RHK will not replace, even at the customers cost, a damaged blade. I really hope this is not true.

The bad thing is its not damaged. Just used. I guess with all the SF and accessories they sell, they didn't expect them to be used as much

Was also thinking about using REK but still waiting to hear back from RHK. If they do reblade I would think it would be about the price of Josh's service
