Well, I have been hankering to add a new member to my family for some time. Meet "Buddy"! After a fair amount of looking, I finally found him at the local Humane Society Shelter. Believe it or not, he went in as a stray and sat there for a month before someone came along to give him a loving home.

I am not sure what he is, though black Lab and Retriever seem to jump out. I have actually had him a few weeks now and can honestly say that he is probably the smartest dog I have ever had in my life. Enough talking. Here are a few pics of my new hiking "Buddy".

Congrats on the great score! He looks like a great dog and more than ready to go for a nice long walk!

Very fine looking dog! And I thinks its great that you got him from a shelter and not a breeder, so many good dogs need homes.

Congrats, nice lookin' buddy! We are looking after the holidays. We another family member, at least of the canine persuasion.

very nice dog. looks like a long haired lab, but also i think your right it, may be a lab retriever mix. either way. awesome dog and they are extremly smart. labs are actually 3rd smartest able to learn over 300 phrases/commands.

Buddy is handsome. Enjoy the new family member.

I have family that donate a lot of time to an animal shelter & most of my charitable donations go there. Kudos to you OTE for going to a shelter:thumbup:

He's got some big bones and wide shoulders! Maybe a little rotw. in him?
Fine looking dog!

Good looking dog, and a lucky one too to be able to roam around such lanscape.

Good luck with him. I took in a rescue a while back and it didn't work out. But it looks like he's a keeper.

Cheers!

Nice looking pup. I got a lab/shepherd mix and let me tell you that long haired labs are awesome but they tend to shed a ton. I prolly sweep at least once a day.

Congrats! What a great looking dog. I adopted a 2 yr old shepherd from a rescue earlier this year. One of the best decisions I have ever made. I wish you two the best!

Congratulations on your new family member! Whatever his ancestry, he looks alert and ready to please! I know I wouldn't trade my four-footed friends for anything, and I hope he works out just as well for you!
