Being a live-long knife nut, I've never received one as a birthday or Xmas present. I guess people don't believe theyknow enough to get me something I'd really like. (The same goes for wines, my other big hobby.) So, a few yers ago, I decided to by myself a new knife as a holidya treat. UPS just dropped it off today - just in time. It's a REKAT T-SIFU-BT BLACK T...yikes, what a monster! Really impressive, not cheap, but a great addition to my collection. I just may have a new carry knife when I feel I need a little extra edge, so to speak.

Any of you folks do this sort of thing?

Certainly, I agree that my family does not know enough about knives to buy me what I desire. So, I just get what I desire. I bought myself a hammer-forged bird/trout knife of 52100 w/ stag handle, nickle-silver guard, tiger's eye buttcap made by Jerry McClure of Norman, OK. It is definitely a beautiful knife. I must have been a good boy this year.

Thanks to Forumite "copfish" I just bought myself a Chris Reeve LDC-109, Small Sebenza with clip point blade. Only 50 made.

Thanks Fish, and Merry Christmas to all!

Merry X-mas to me. My new D/A Socom just arrived. Wowwww Are all of the MT knives this sharp? I thought that my L-UDT being as sharp as it was, was just a fluke. Nice knife, now only if I could get my wife to agree.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a sharp night.

My Post-Christmas/New Year's gift (ordered today from Chai) is an Al Mar Falcon with a polished blade. Look forward to seeing in the New Year with it.

Well, I expected only one, but thanks to Joe Pirela, and Allen Elishewitz, I'm getting 2.
My first one being a Chris Reeve/Al Mar fixed blade fighter called a CRC 1 with 4.5" blade, and partial serrations #138/200.I have the 5.5" CRC 2, and the 7.5" CRC 3 coming.
The 2nd knife being #3 Joe Pirela/Allen Elishewitz Polaris folder.
So I feel I faired out pretty well on this Christmas.
But I must admit without my wife, and her financial input it would not have been possible.I just got to pick out my own presents.

Don't get any better than that.

I haven't made it a tradition, but I was getting a Randall~made: one a year... I got through with buying knives until last week here again at the bladeforums. I was reading posts and got the knife itch. I called up Pat Crawford(who I have had an eye out for a long time) and he said he'd have a Shark with Black Micarta and Bolsters on Monday ready. I jumped on it and will give a review of it when it arrives. My wife says the knives I like are too expensive and the particulars are too advanced for her to learn enough to surprise me with a knife. She won't buy them for me. I can take care of myself though. She sees that crummy set of five"customs" in Fingerhut Catalog which are one~fifth scale and wonders if I would really enjoy that. Hard to answer with any tact. You would be laughing at this point if you know what I am referring to and been in this situation before. Like who would want a Franklin Mint Art Knife when for the cost you can get a real user? I'll stop here with too much(perhaps) already said.

Sounds like a good tradition. I guess I just started partaking of it this year, and my gift to myself was/is a custom by Steve45, shaped to my design. In A-2.

Unfortunately, I didn't place my order until just before Christmas, so my gift to myself is going to be late, by my fault (ie, no fault of Steve's). Figures!

It's a late XMas gift, but I'm buying a SIFU from Murray at ProEdge. I was also contemplating a Steel Heart II, but decided to put my $$$ towards a HK USP .40
