XMP,

I was sorting through some old photos and found this one of a couple guys in my squad (Dave and Steve - Great guys) and thought of you... Of the troops and for the troops!

Thanks for the little trip down memory lane:).

In my book there are two kinds of MPs -- 1911 MPs and 92 MPs. Heres to all the old 1911 MPs:thumbup:. (Sorry 1911s are my other big hobby besides knives).

XMP,

Yep, I was gone before the 92s, but I have to say that the 1911s we had brought some challenges... I was an armorer for a while and our collection of 1911s was "well used", but most were still pretty functional.... "Fire 5 times, center mast, if you miss, hit 'em with it"

1911 or 92 MP's. That is a cool way of thinking.
I was an MP in the Corps. back in 74-78. 1911 all the way for me also. It is still my carry choice 30 years after getting out. That and a Rem. 870 and the M-14 in the company I was attached to. Love those oldy but goodys. Semper Fi !!!:D

The old 1911s were we'll worn, but the ones I had always worked and still shot pretty decent. Pretty soon we'll be able to date people by those woodland camo BDUs. I wonder how much longer they'll be around with all the new ACU stuff. I caught the tailend of the Vietnam era OD utilities. I loved those.

ArchAngel, I consider you fortunate if you got to train with the M14. I never did, all M16s (I spent alot more time with my 1911 though). I do have an M1A, but I wish I had M14 training as a background.

Yeah, I was an M16/1911 guy too. We had the M60 and stingers as well. M60 might be my favorite weapon, with tracers mixed into the ammo they were just like a laser!

I think I was lucky too. In bootcamp our Senior DI and his first assistant had just come from a tour in Nam. Neither one of them liked or was real comfortable with the M-16. It is what I trained in bootcamp with and qualified with that 1st time. Fortunately the company I was assigned to was issued the M-14 and that is what I used for the rest of my tour.
To this day, the tools that I used way back then are still my favored arms to use. I always have a couple of 1911's around, same with the 870 Rem. I don't have an M1a right now, but hope to remedie that one day.
