XXX NUDE RC4 with patina!!!

Wow this was really interesting to read. Thanks for the tutorial on both stripping and applying patina

Think I will bookmark this thread for the future. The coating on mine are not beat up enough to strip them yet, but someday. Looks great in my opinion.

Can you get a shot of the scales and the tang now? How does that feel and look? Are the scales ever so slightly to large now?

I think its great you guys do this... As a good southern boy that goes to church, I like my rats fully clothed. :)

I think I will keep the coating ON! :)

that looks very very nice. Great job. Ill strip mine for sure once the coating is damaged.

Finally! I'd strip a RAT only if the coating would be REALLY beat up. But that's just me. The tutorial is great though.

That's awesome! I think I'll jump on the old bandwagon when my coatings start taking a beating...
One question though - you didn't coat it with Tuf-Glide or similar product afterwards? or does the patina help protect it some?

Patina helps alot but i still ALWAYS keep a thin coat of mineral oil on mine. It works the best, doesn't congeal like olive oil but is still edible unlike tuff glide and other gun specific lubricant/ protectants. BTW i did have to shorten the screws for the scaled by 1 or so threads to get them to tighten back up.

cool - that's awesome. definitely will bookmark this thread.
and who says tuf-glide ain't edible - puts hair on your chest... just like WD-40! I use it on lots of stuff.

Thanks for the tutorial, how long did you own the knife before you decided to do this?
