I'm glad you're going to carry it!

When I saw the photos, my first thought was, I'd be cuttin' the crap outta stuff if that was mine!"

Congrats!

Yep Rhino, carrying it today, sweet folder! and sharp, the stag is nice
and grippy too, one friend asked why I chose nickel for the bolsters
but when he heard it was either that or brass, then I did fine, he would
have wanted Stainless, but that's not an option.

I think it looks GREAT as is!!!! Glad to see that you are going to keep it and use it! Enjoy it Gary! That is a beautiful, useful knife!!!

I agree Jim, the frame/bolsters being stainless would just make it less
prone for scratches, otherwise it's fine and boy does it cut! :)

Again, that's a beauty Gary. I just open this thread sometimes to look at it.
Good to hear it's being used by it's original owner :)
Thanks for the camera data...too rich for my blood!!! But very cool

you're sporting now :)

Well I was going to just use the sheath that arrived with it, but I'm in the
midst of working on some sheaths so I decided to work one in for myself ;)

And loving the knife still, which is pretty good for me, as I'm about as fickle
a guy as you've ever seen! But the stag is great, the blade is sharp and
ground down nicely, sucker push cuts like crazy! Also one thing I really like
is that the edge goes all the way up to the end, no notch that tends to
hang up on material as you attempt to cut, that is one of my MAJOR pet
peeves, where the sebenza has a notch, but Chris made it angled so that
material will slide out and not hangup.

I just received a Spyderco UKpen knife who's edge also goes all the way up,
I am carrying that in the front pocket and the 110 on the belt to compliment
each other, highly recommend the UKpen knife too!

Do post a picture of "your" sheath for this stag buck 110.Would be interested in somthing like that for myself:) .Glad to hear that the BG-42 blade holds a good edge.I have used a s30V bladed 110,-the alaskan guide series from cabelas. That came very sharp from the factory.Edge held up very well even after hard use.

Well I've not used it to exhaustion just yet, but every indication is it will
do the job handily ;)

Now in the realm of sheath making, I've managed to make use of a lot of
dead cows in my time, the two sheaths that seem to work best on fitup
were the Sebenza and the Benchmade balisongs, but, the 110 rates above
both, only problem is that the usual 110 price is low enough for all to buy
and love, a custom sheath is usually the same price, so it's a tough thing
for a person to want to get a sheath made, as I said above, I had intended
to use the sheath that came with it, as I find it hard to fit in a sheath for
myself, but on this occasion, I was able to fit her in the line up

Being stag and knarly at that, the leather conforms to the shape so I ended
up using my favourite Indian Head embossing on this one.

The knife snaps into place so soundly and secure, the belt loop folds down
from the top close to the sheath so the sheath hugs the body, but being long
in length, the sheath allows you to raise it up when you sit down, or tilt it
forward as you draw her out. All in all, Knice Knife!

Thanks again Joe and Evil Eye Earl for this great gift,

...What a truly great looking combination Gary...Between the beautiful shape conforming of the sheath to the knife, to the sheath's color, it's a terrific match...Well done...

Excellent job on the sheath:thumbup: Gary...I've seen many of your sheaths on BF but can't remember one that had the stitching so close to the knife. Really looks good, trim and clean, is this a new style? Preston

Thanks Darryl and Preston and as to new style, not really, just depends on
the knife and fitup, some can be stitched a little closer, while others need
some room in order to remove the knife.
actually just looking at the images again, I have both the knife and sheath
on small pieces of foam to raise them up off the background, so the sheath
is angled and the stitching just appears closer do to that perspective, it's not
as tight as what you are seeing there
...:)

edited to add a side and back view, some guys have wondered just what the
back sides look like, my mark, G2, then the month and year and the a Right foot print
to remind you to always start your day out on the right foot when you wear the
sheath, a little quirky eh?

The sheath is made from one piece of leather, wrapped and folded down and around the knife
tightly for as compact a sheath as I can make.

also make note that the blade is nicely centered too :)

 ...hmmmm...I just may be gettin' somethin' in a few weeks from now that I just might send out to ya Gary...LOL...As if you weren't busy enough already...:p

No problem, only let me know if you can, some things don't work as well
in a sheath as other things do.

Preston, here is one made, wow, 3 years ago? man time goes quickly!!

It belongs to Richard on the forums, and it's a photo he took as well
it's an anniversary edition 110 and he wanted a special sheath for it
the stitching is close to the knife, the area outside the stitching is a
little wider, that varys sometimes, this is horizontal style sheath, more
work involved, more layers of leather, there is a
Top section
a layer of leather beneath that
then another layer of leather the full length of the knife
which is then trimmed from the end of the sheath and folded
down to make the belt loop, so at the entrance area on the bottom
are 4 layers of leather there, makes for a solid sheath;

Thanks for the reply, photos and the explanation, Gary, I think the wrap around aspect of your sheath gives it the simple, trim, compact look...I like it very much. Great work:thumbup:. Preston
