Ya know how when your cutting a 3/4 inch radius on a band saw, cutting a series of short parallel cuts and then cutting diagonally creating those hot little cubes?

Don't do it with boat shoes and no socks!

That's for free.

Same at the shooting range, don't do it with boat shoes and no socks, that brass is hot!

One of our former forumites learned about welding in tennis shoes the same way. First time, he got hot slag in his shoe top and burned his ankle....second time he set his shoes on fire

I was in the shop working in sandals when I dropped the scribe , went right through the foot and stuck in the sandal

No matter how good you think your welding shoes are, that spark is going to find the shoelace eyelet and get into your sock, every time. There's probably a great discovery in physics waiting that would explain that, cuz it doesn't make any kind of sense.

AhAhAh! :) I loved those semi-news shoes....now my belowed pin holes shop shoes!!!
An i agree...just beacuse a piece of steel is very tiny doesn't mean it couldn't be hot like the hell ;)

i was walking in Kroger the other day and kept feeling and hearing a tapping noise in my right foot. Looked down and a small triangle of steel from using my cutoff wheel melted right in there lol.

It was late and I was trying to refine a radius with a file when I decided it was to much work and went back to the grinder. I hadn't planned on using the grinder that night and found out quickly it's a bad idea to grind with nylon basketball shorts on. It only took about thirty seconds before I had 2" hole melted through them.
