Yanagi grind question

So, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and making a wa-handled, traditional geometry 52100 yanagi-ba instead of my usual stainless western schtick. Felt it was time to become more rounded. I've read a bunch of the old threads including Stacy's old WIP thread which was very helpful, thanks for the effort Stacy. The issue at hand is to grind the bevel at all pre-ht, or to wait. HT will be done by Peters', I have already hand sanded in the 36" hollow, as that seemed like too much work after hardening, and was plenty of work before. I'm not set up to wet grind, but I do at least have speed variability on the grinder. My preference would be to grind pre-ht if I can get away with it, as that is closer to what I'm used to, which is taking my stainless knives all the way to finish level before they go to Brad. Also, I'm waiting for new steel and feel like doing a grind today. I believe Stacy ground pre-ht, but left it "very thick", 0.05" sound thick enough? Keeping in mind that the wizards are doing my HT, and I have a lot of time invested hand-sanding in that radius, what would you do? Thanks guys.

Looking good so far.

I do the basic bevel pre-HT, and finish post-HT. The edge I leave is usually about 0.030" , but 0.050" is safer.
Grind carefully, post-HT and use stones or taped flat paper to get the main bevel flat and even. Long smooth strokes make for good looking bevels.

Thanks Stacy, I made one more pass at 120 and ended up just a hair under .05", not touching it again until it gets back.

Sounds good. Brad does a great job with long thin hyper-eutectoid blades and I have never had one come back warped. Did you tell him it is Aldo's 52100? He has the regime dialed in for that super-spheroidized stuff. If not noted in the shipment, call him and let him know.

Edited - Don't know why I wrote "Brian"
