But I'm ready for the zombies!

The pen is AWESOME, it is going in my emergency pack along with first aid gear, fire starting supplies, trail food, hand gun, magazines, flash light, water and purifier, compass, etc. It is small, has enough ooomph to handle basic shelter building needs and chopping. Great design!

I LOVE the BAS Ghurka knife. If I had gotten this knife first I might have never ordered another. Glad I didn't order it first! :D

Now if you will all excuse me, I need to go put on my GI Joe underoos and jump around my apartment playing Ninja with my new sword. :p

Hey HR,
What kinda firearm ya got goin there? I could swear it was a .223, but I've never seen a configuration like that before. Or am I just seeing things, and it's a tricked out FAL? Pretty sweet, in any case...
Oh yeah, almost forgot... nice khuks!

You are correct, it is a 5.56... but not a FAL. Although there was a 5.56 FAL variant known as the FNC. They run around $3,000.

This is a Sig 556, a recently released update on the Sig 550/551 rifle. The 556 takes AR/Stanag mags instead of the proprietary mags the 550/551 rifles took.

This is what the rifle looked when I got it.

I got rid of the M4 style stock and replaced it with an old ZM style folder. The Sig 556 does not need a buffer tube, the action is similar to an AK where everything is contained inside the receiver. I got rid of the crappy railed hand guards in favor of the original Sig 550/551 hand guards. These are much more ergonomic and weigh a little less. Got rid of the factory front sight and installed the Sampson flip up front sight designed for this rifle. The rear sight from the factory folds into the top rail and is still there. I did however put a back-up iron sight in its place that is adjustable from 200-600 yards. The scope is an ACOG. I think the end result is a much better rifle.

The Sig 556 uses many of the design principles of the AK and FAL with more AR ergonomics.

How does the Sig compare to the Daewoo. They look very similiar I believe.

They are very similar in principle. Both use a gas piston with an adjustable gas system for more reliability with a variety of ammo and when the rifle is dirty. The Daewoo DR200/K2 rifle design is more of an AK with the gas piston and bolt carrier being one piece and with a large recoil spring in the back of the receiver that compresses and pushes bolt forward after firing to cycle a fresh round. With the Sig the spring is around the piston and the piston actually is separate from the bolt carrier, they are joined together by the charging handle. It is a strange design, but it seems to work. Basically one has the spring behind the bolt carrier and between the bolt carrier and the rear of the receiver, the other has it around the piston in front of the bolt carrier. They work on the same principle.

With regards to Daewoos, some work on Direct Impingement, which is the AR gas system. Not all are piston rifles.

Thanks for explaining HR. Would like to see pics of the Daewoo if you get a chance. Sorry for all the gun talk, i know this is a knife forum:D

Thanks for the pics HR. I really like how Daewoo combined the best from the AK and the AR. The Korean troops supposedly love them.

Yeah I passed on one this weekend that had an ugly wood thumbhole stock. Was $525 shipped, but to put a folding stock on it would ass another $225... and well, HI has been getting all my fun money lately. And before you ask, the guy sold it to someone else already. :(

Damn, you guys are lucky to own those rifles. Up here in the North (Canada) the stiff gun laws limit us drastically to what we can purchase *sigh*.

Yeah! That's what I'm talkin about! When I get my M43 back from Ilbruche, I'll join in the pic fun!

Great collection, thank you for the nice pictures
