Yangdu has 7 winners for the 12/29 nightshift. Pix and year end steals.

Dan, that is a japanese bow, a "yumi."

the one I just had made was for extra big people. (thats me by japanese standards)
So I paid more than the normal price for a carbon fiber bow.
410$

Very cool. Ever since I first started studying buddhism and first read the story of Manjushri's sword I thought it would be great to have my own replica. Of course it would certainly be a wall hanger. Until now I had no idea HI put them up as specials on occasion. I will have to grab one if/when it comes up in the future.

This is the second one ever offered Brian. The first was beautifully carved wood and was snagged by Sweet. If you do see another one and want it, you had better not wait, because there are about 20 other guys here who would like to beat you to it!

Oh, by the way, you know you have to be here online at least 6 months before you can order any of the sword specials, right? Just checking. A little known Bladeforums regulation put in place as a result of the 1994 Crime Bill; edged weapons regulations and all that. I'm sure you understand. ;)

Regards,

Norm

This is a good thread.

a japanese bow has a different style of draw, we pull the arrow back to the side of the neck, basically. so this number might seem long, but its just right for me.
my arrows are 42 inches long.
the bows' draw weight at that length should be around 46-47 pounds. also, the japanese bow is designed to be overdrawn, so the actual number might be 50 or so. i dont know for sure...

I dayumed near had this one but was able to resist, maybe everyone won't be so lucky next time.:p :D ;)

I was *that* close myself Edutsi...

Thanks for the info Danny...mine is 75#, 36 1/2" draw, but I don't end up with 5-6" out the front like your style does. I have found the the ease of control at 75# promotes accuracy and still provides a flat enough trajectory for Eastern hunting of deer and smaller game. I am still trying to figure out the why's of the Japanese design with that severe forward cant to the bow...I know you are doing it correctly, just don't understand why. If I were to nock mine that way I'd both lose power *and* have high fliers...

From what I can tell all the night shift specials are gone but stay tuned. Yangdu has more stuff for today.
