Hang in there George! And welcome to the forum. Sometimes Yangdu's deals come later in the day, and sometimes a piece will stick around for a day or two. Good luck.

Steve

Hello Steve!

Thank you for the welcome as well as the encouragement. I will keep trying and I have the feeling the effort will bear its fruits :) .

Be well,

George

Sometimes there are 'night shift' deals sort of between 7 and 9 PM Pacific Time. (or close enough)

Next time you pull an all nighter stop by and see if any of the Deals of the Day are available.

I'm glad you stopped in, and if you want to belong, you belong.

Hey Norm!! If you're reading this; I do believe our new Greek friend has a harder name for me to remember than yours!!!

Hi munk

Thank you for the tip of information, as well as, your kind words. I will make use of it, since it sounds like the voice of experience, and let you know how it turns out. The warm welcome I have received has been really encouraging.

As for the name I use here, Norm hit the nail on the head! "g" comes from my first name and "moutafis" is my last name.

Take care,
George

George, I am in California and I think Athens is about 8 hours ahead of me now, right? As I write this, you should be about 5 minutes away from Wednesday morning. I know GMT is usually 8 hrs. ahead of me, but with DST I believe it is 7 until October. Anyway, Yangdu usually posts her daily deals around 11 a.m. PST, so that should be just around 7 p.m. your time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but log on about dinner time and I think you may have a good chance of snagging one of the deals of the day.

Good luck with your collecting, and welcome to the Cantina!

Regards,

Norm

Hi Norm and thank you for the welcome.

Is that a small world or what? I was living in Southern California while I was pursuing my MBA over at USD (University of San Diego). As far as time is concerned, we are 10 hours ahead of you and that remains the same in winter too. You are right about GMT difference though. However, I have to confess that I didn't know that UK is on British Summer Time (GMT+1) and not GMT - GMT does not switch. For more on this, you may want to check out the following URL:

wwp.greenwichmeantime.com

I will keep on mind the time frame that you mentioned. Nevertheless, if I find my self needing some additional information about any of the knives I may see, by the time I receive the reply most likely the item will be gone :( .

If perseverance builts character, I think I am setting the establishment of a solid character. Then again, who am I to say?

Take care,

George

I think you're right! As far as mine is concerned, it is easier to remember as the two words of the name, but when combined it is harder to remember and spell. I almost didn't pick it even though I liked the story from which it is derived, because it reminded me of some horrible movie with Duston Hoffman and that guy who played Dick Tracy and was fooling around with Madonna (now THAT narrows it down!) What was his name? And what was the movie? Just drew a blank. It must have been so horrible I blocked it out! But anyway, my screen name is somewhat similar as I recall.

In any case, M. Moutafis is undoubtedly using his real name and not a fictional one.

Norm

Well actually they were BOTH in Dick Tracy!
Dustin Hoffman played Mumbles and Warren Beatty played Dick Tracy.
But the movie I think you were talking about was the INFAMOUS Ishtar!
