It seems like we've been subjected to a monotonous stream of flat black and gray slabs for several decades now. How about some curves and colorful or organic materials for a change?

Post 'em if ya got 'em.

On that first Begg I thought if a blade was heated enough to color it then the temper would be messed up and it would be soft. Is this purely a show piece and doesn't hold an edge?

I'm pretty sure the color you're seeing on that thing are due to light refraction inside the finish marks. Kinda like the "rainbow" you see on a CD or DVD. I'm sure that steel is 100% functional.
