YCS are here. Pix and email Dan to get yours.

Just got mine, too. Can't examine it too closely at work (people freak), but the 'little' knives are awesome (read: HUGE, if you're expecting the usual c & k). All handles/inlays very smooth, flush. YCS handle is MASSIVE. Almost too big for me, and my hands are not small. Lovely flat spine.

Great design, Yvsa.

Have just arrived home and have been checking mine out also.
No Cho creep.
No Habaki bolster
Nice flat spine
All three blades are SHARP! :D With a light touchup, they are scary sharp. Very little touchup!
Inlays are all nicely done. Maybe a little better than my Sanu.
Blades all HUGE!! The YCS is a good 1 1/2 Longer than my Sanu. It comes in at 18 1/2 OAL My Sanu at about 17ish.
Large Karda is 10"!
Small Karda is 7 3/4"!
All wood work is very nicely done and well finished.
The blade is very well finished with deep smooth fullers. Brass inlays are very well done also.As was mentioned by Aardvark, the handle borders on being too big. Furtunately I have big hands so it is OK. The smaller handle does handle better though. All in all a great job!! ;) :D
I thank Dan, Bill and Yangdu for another job WELL DONE!! ;)
Compairison pictures to follow this weekend after a little chopping tests between the two.

Still nothing of my blonde-haired beauty...
Of course it will be held at the PO and I'll have to make it there 8:30-5 weekdays only, what a crock...

mailman just showed up with the triangular box... my first thought was "damn, this things heavy!"... i proceeded to tear into the box...

all i can say is WOWIE...

just WOWIE, man...

c & k are HUGE (daddy like)... handle on the khuk is on the large side like on my UBE and hanuman (these kamis must think that we Americans are giants or something), but feels good, and the knife feels surprisingly quick in the hand for its massive size...

i may whip up some home made canvas micarta if my hands keep telling me that the handles are too big (id do the UBE first), but this YCS is so damn pretty, i dont know if i can justify ripping these handle slabs off... i may just have to let my hands suffer...

must go chop things now...

Here is a very bad photo of my two YCS's, and all tools.
All of the top pieces are the new Kumar work. All of the lower pieces are the Sanu work. Good pictures to follow when I can get outside during the daylight. :o

Whew, got a slip today. I was getting kinda worried. Now just have to get to the PO, 20 miles from work, weekday between 8:30 and 5.
Anybody know if you can request that your packages be kept at another post office location? At least open on Saturdays, this is ridiculous.

Well it's too late now but I'm thinking you can request a Saturday delivery, might be something you can check on for next time. Most post offices are pretty accommodating; it would be worth a try to call them and see if something could be done to facilitate delivery. You might even be able to get it delivered at the place you work.

This was a Saturday delivery, we were out. Just damn inconvenient not to be open Saturdays, or at least open late 1-2 nights a week. Also bad that you can put bills in the mail drop Friday night and they don't get into the mail system until Monday noon! At least the YCS is here, that's all I care about. I'm just paranoid about my mail deliveries

I will give them a call this week and see if there's anything I can do to get future packages held at the regional PO that is open more. I used to live right next door to that place, it was great to go pick up a khuk early Saturday morning and then admire it over breakfast.

Monday is here.......best of luck, mPisi....tell us all about it when you get it. :D

I am making a sneak attack. My wife and I have been carpooling since my old car got stolen. I have our remaining car today to go look for a new vehicle for me at lunch. I fear I will be diverted from my appointed rounds to end up somewhere around the post office... :D

Picked up today. Turns out they have a window that is open later and on Saturdays. Too bad they don't publicize it

As for the YCS, it's just
 W  O  W
What a beautiful piece. Just fantastic. Blade is stout but balanced, hardly a ripple in all the fullers, pointy too. Handle is great blonde wood, perfectly finished, great blending with the full tang. My boss, who is a semi-knife-guy, was blown away by it too.

The two kardas are just ridiculous, especially the big one (10"). I literally laughed out loud when I pulled it out of the sheath the first time, it's just silly to be called "small accessory knife". Great horn handles on all 3 tools. Blunt awl is the only bad spot, but that's practically tradition now.

Well done to all involved!!! Thank you, thank you!!

Wow. I love my new YCS but have been looking for an original Sanu YCS all year and that one is a real beauty The older one just has a bit more of a snakier, meaner blade forward look to it. And a nice fat polished cho as well. They are both beautiful pieces of work.

Thanks for sharing!

Norm

I wish it was summertime so I could get out and take pics of all 4 (how the hell did I get 4, that's equal to Pen Knives and approaching WWII level  ) YCS that now honor me by letting me possess them. But darkness by the time I get home doesn't work too well for pics. Would do it on Saturday but we'll have guests over. Alas, I will have to be content with measuring and sketching for the planned framed mount. (with "in case of emergency, break glass" legend on the front).

Comparing #13 with the checkerboard YCS last night, the new blonde one is a full inch longer and somewhat thicker at the spine. The blonde one is heavier and balanced farther forward, a real chopper. The blonde handle is larger around, but the checkerboard blade is actually deeper where it goes into the bolster. The blonde is thicker, but more shallow, a very good look as it deepens out farther down the blade (hard to see this in the picture for some reason). The only thing I don't like about the blonde is that the handle has a small M43esque curve through it, where I prefer a very straight handle. Damn nice knives no matter how you look at them :D
