I have over 10 Sanrenmu & Bee Knives (bought out of curiosity). Now I am a big Spyderco fan, just spent close to 1000 dollars in the last few months on Spydies, and I own Benchmades, Kershaws, etc, etc. The thing that strikes me the most is that QC is next to amazing on these low priced knives, on all of them that I received. The only issue is that a couple were not shaving sharp, that's it! While I love western knives, and I own a couple of hundred of them, Sanrenmu is right up there with tight QC and tolerences, yes i said tolerences. Super smooth and none have blade play and perfect centered blades.

Now I know many collectors do not like knives from the far east, but when push comes to shove, the quality is there for a ridiculously low price point.

Please don't make this a Chinese Knife bashing thread, just consider the workmanship they have to offer and yes some are close designs to well known knives, I admit, but again let's focus on the quality. They are not a POS, just well priced edc users that are in line with budget minded people. Pick one up and test it before you knock it!

Thanks,

TS

I just received the Sanrenmu 2.5", Axis Lock, G10 and I am impressed. It cost me $7 and I like it more than my BM Mini-Grip because the Sanrenmu allows 4 fingers under the handle compared to 3 on the Mini-Grip. I see no difference in quality although the omega springs on the Sanrenmu are slightly stronger, which is good and bad. The G10 is slightly lower where your index finger wraps around, making it easy to access the thumbstud which is close to the handle--a design I wish some of my Kershaw/ZTs had.

I have a 710. The only two issues I've had is the blade not being 100% perfectly centered. It's. A seven dollar knife, so who cares. It's a seven dollar knife which compares to $50-60 pieces.

Oh yeah, the other issue? The pocket clip bent. Big deal.

The only SRM i have is a 710, but i have to say that i was extremely impressed, especially for the price point. I dont really carry it outside the house much, there are just too many knives that i have that i like so much more, but i use it around the house fairly often. The only knock i'll give it is that the pocket clip absolutely sucks. no retention what so ever.

Is there a place to buy Sanrenmu and Bee other than from somebody overseas on ebay?

You know, the "axis lock" springs seem to be more stout, probably a good thing once you get used to it. I have 2 with the axis lock style, the 763 (a little gem) and I forget the other model, anyhow they work great.

The blades on mine are all perfectly centered, maybe I was lucky...

The steel seems adequate, not the best by far, but a few swipes on my lansky at 20 degrees and back to 'sliceville', holds as 8cr13 should I guess...

It makes me wonder that the steel is a little too easy to sharpen up?? Any thoughts?

I got a 710 a week or so ago.....opens smooth and easy, fit and finish is top notch. And was surprisingly very sharp from the factory.

It's a great little knife and an incredible bargain.

My favorite of the 4-6 I have experimented with so far is not the 710 but the Navy K-507 in 440c. Nothing wrong with 440C considering the price. This one came extremely sharp and easily gets resharpened, ( I have a few cuts to show for it).

Its G10 on one side, SS integral lock on other. Mine locks almost 80% over. No blade play and quick to deploy with good detention.

Yes it is a G10 small seb knock off, which ain't right. But it got me to buy a small seb as a result of holding it and liking the mid size style.

Overall it is a better knife then many $50 knives from unnamed top brand oversees knives. I am sorry why pay the $30 difference for a knife someone is already making in China and marking up?

Do I like my US made knives because of origin and willing to pay more, yes, but not more for a Chinese imported and branded knife.

If you're referring to the SRM 763, it is indeed impressive.
But to suggest that there is no difference in quality between it and the BM Mini Grip goes too far.

The blade steel on the SRM isn't even close to that of the BM.

As for the "Axis" lock, it is as smooth as you could want on the BM while all of the 763s I've seen need a little extra help to close.

Although these are not small differences, it doesn't mean that you can't still like the SRM better. But by any objective standard, the quality of one stands out over the other.

there are a couple of sanrenmu knives i would like to give a try... problem is I can't find a site that i would buy from. I refuse to get anything from a site selling counterfeit items, or one that is plastered with Engrish.

Some folks have had good luck with Exduct.

Like many online dealers here and elsewhere, they don't seem to check their knives for QC. But they did replace two defective Elans with two SRM 738s without any argument and for no cost except shipping. Seemed more than fair.

They ship from Hong Kong via registered mail, which means a trip to the Post Office if no one is home for delivery.

I agree. When I said quality, I was speaking of the build quality, not the materials.

Does anyone know if Bee and Ganzo are related to SRM? I know SRM does some contracting work for Spyderco, which seems to add legitimacy to their name, but I haven't heard anything about the others.

I really like my SRMs but the quality isn't as good as my kershaws/spydies/bms for example. Lots of little things that set them apart. They are amazingly good for the price though. I've had a few come with stripped screws. Lock bars moved over to the complete opposite side on some, still locks solid though. And I need to tighten the pivot more then i like to keep the blade centered. Still though for 5-10 bucks there amazing.

Posted a link to a quick video I did on my Sanrenmu GA-763, in another thread.

Here's the link: Sanrenmu GA-763 Axis Test

Basically, it's just meant to show how secure the axis lock is on this knife.

Love this knife!

I do have a Benchmade Grip & Mini Grip, but they just don't seem as fun. Heck, the 763 has a bottle opener!

I had 7 of these (w/ black & green handles). However, every time a buddy sees this knife, I seem to lose one. No prob, though. Usually end up getting a few extra drinks, on them. :D

Now, I have 2 left, the one in the vid and a new backup, which I'm not going to give out. Guess I'll have to order more 763s.

The 763 is indeed a nice compact EDC. Now next to the two with FRN handles, there is also the LB763 with an aluminium handle. This one is even nicer:

That's where I get them from, no probs what so ever with that dealer, and accepts paypal...
