Yea another Sanrenmu Thread

I have not edc'd them enough to really get a feel of the steel, does it hold up to the Tenacious in edge holding?

Not too long ago I ordered a whole lot of SRM knives to learn and practice freehand sharpening on. I figured that they're cheap and probably crap so I wouldn't be concerned in the least if I damaged them or scratched them up. However like you guys have mentioned, their quality for the price is really quite amazing.

Seems like this company can take the knife world on for low priced high valued items, if only they revamp their line with orig designs...

The 763 is indeed a nice compact EDC. Now next to the two with FRN handles, there is also the LB763 with an aluminium handle. This one is even nicer:

I have one of those, as well as the 738...Love your review on it.

I really wish there was a larger version of this available.

It looks like the 962 is completely out of stock.

Does Exduct have a standard shipping rate ..... ?
...per qty
...per weight?

I think I'll give the 702, 704, 710, & 763 a shot.

The SanRenMu knives I've seen are original designs, with the possible exception of the 710
and STR did a pretty good writeup on the 710 where he goes over all the differences between a 710 and a Sebenza. I believe the differences are probable enough to avoid a lawsuit if it came to that, which I doubt it will.

That's a huge "if", don't you think?

Original designs/designers cost money.

True that but they have the low cost production factor on their side. Could be possible I think, it's been done before, in China, that's for sure. That said, they would have to raise their msrp for western markets, think it can be done though...

Legal fees enough would probably not warrant a suit. did i not here C.R. in a pod cast say that copies of his hollow handle fixed blade knife only bolstered the popularity of the origional? Forget which podcast though, anyone know?

- Exduct charges per weight. I have perfectly reliable experience with them, except that the shipping could be quicker. Shipping costs are not unreasonable.

- You may find the Klotzli-inspired 702 a bit too lightweight. I also recommend the wonderful recent 738 (see other thread), and if you like a kind of "ZT0200 for a basic budget", then do investigate the remarkable Enlan EL01A as well. Furthermore the Navy K507 is also worth your attention, yes another Sebenza-inspired model but bigger than the 710 and thus offering better handholding. This Navy also shows how a midsize Sebenza would feel (very good actually).

Does anyone know if Bee and Ganzo are related to SRM? I know SRM does some contracting work for Spyderco, which seems to add legitimacy to their name, but I haven't heard anything about the others.
Not sure, but quality & consistency are similar. SRM has also done some contracting work for Benchmade, I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if they've worked with other brands, too.

Personally I haven't been impressed with the ones I've handled and owned - yeah they're decent for the money, but I would give up 20 of them easily for one good knife.

I think it just serves a market for the addicted who want a fix.

Just to confuse us all, Sanrenmu tools series are branded Ganzo.

Most recent Athletic series are practically Bee's model with one exception.

Nevertheless, quality is where it shines.

The steel holds up well. I can go for a week of paper cutting, aluminium foil (instant coffee) and occasional shaving before it needs touch up. The only maintenance is stropping it on my jeans. I thin them all to about 30 inclusive.

the one thing im wondering about is how the 440c holds up on the Navy series, i recently bought a K631 as my counterpart to the byrd cara cara 2, and it said 56-58rc which seems a little low for 440c
