So I've been eyeballing the benchmade Stryker in black. Most benchamade designs don't 'speak' to me if you will but I'd like to like them. I'm from Oregon for God sake. I feel like I need a good benchmade knife and the Stryker is really the only one that looks like something I'd carry. I have a mini grip that i found at my last job but hate it. It's small and feels cheap. My fiancé gave me the go ahead to get the Stryker so I know I'm good to spend around $165 so of course I'm looking at other options around that price range also. I am a best bang for your buck kind of guy and if there's a better option at that price range over the Stryke, we'll I may change my tune.....my usual go to's are my spydercos...pm2, gb2..I have many spydies though. Should I just grab the Stryker? What would you spend $165 ish on? Looking for something in the size range of the pm2, gb2...not small but not overly big like the regular military.

Which blade length are you looking at??
Cutlery Shoppe Exclusive Rift........WOW!!
94x????

I would recommend the KSF Exclusive Stryker, but it's $250. Amazing knife!

Nothing wrong with Benchmade's Stryker series of knives. Very good knife. IMO, one of the better knives in the BM line. Buy it while you still can.

The older model Stryker is one of my favorites. I have a lot of Spyderco knives and I like them a lot but I hang onto this one also.

Nothing really wrong with the Stryker although for the $, I'd probably go ZT 566, 350 (available in black blade too), or 770 if you like metal handled knives (I prefer g10 myself). I have had a few BMs over the years and the only ones I've held onto were the Adamas and something else that escapes me atm.

then Benchmade

sounds like a step down to me.

I just got the gb1
I was going to recommend that but then saw you have the 2. Can't get any more solid than the gb1 . . . I imagine the 2 is pretty close (not as thick of liners). PM2 very solid as well.

How ever I do like the Griptillian stock scales, I appreciate the engineered material = light but strong. Has that "hollow plastic" sound but it is just lulling you into a false sense of something or other. That's a good knife.

Sounds like you might want to go some where you can handle the Striker and be sure it feels the way you expect it to.

OK I got to show it off now. Only had it a day.
Built solid as a brick out house.
Kind of scares me  how well it cuts considering it isn't even really very scrape-hair-off-my-arm-sharp yet. Trims finger nails like it shouldn't for being so "dull", I push cut some paper accidentally today while using it to cut something else, cuts threads off my clothes too easily. My Manix NEVER cut stuff this well even when it was literally hair whittling. OK, ok end of commercial.

The stryker is a very well built knife and an excellent choice for a first axis lock.

Wowbagger, is the GB1 your first HSS bladed knife? If so, welcome to a new dimension in blade steels.
