Year of steel change to 425mod in 110

I have a 4 dot 110 which dates between 81 to 86 I believe and was wondering when the change took place. Thanks

To the best of everybodys knowledge, the four dots started the 425m steel. And yes the four dots started either late 81 or early 82. HL

Before 1981.---440C
1981 to 1993.--425M
After 1993.-----420HC

Also: In the 110s the 425MOD blades had a slightly different shape and were slightly thicker.

I don't know of any such physical changes on other models, so as far as I know we have to accept the old notes or use intuition (there's always a chance some slopover from the preceding year or that old blades may be found and used, at least among the fixed blades).

Changes rarely came about on 1 January of the new year, but we (and the old notes from the gurus) often talk as though they did.

Buck moved into a big new facility around late 80 or early 81 if I remember right. Steel change most likely corresponded to start-up of new stamping machinery in new plant for increased blade production.
