"Yeller" Handles

Let's not forget Case in all this discussion...what would life be without a couple of Case CV's in yeller....

Makes me want to get a yellow handled knife go fishing and cook out hot dogs! Usual good job jackknife!

Those yeller handled fishing knives were in everyones tackle box or gear bucket when I was a kid! In fact I got a couple of them still hangin' around lol.

Thank you for this thread my friend.
Everyone, thank you as well for sharing pictures, and stories.

Yeah, yeller handles and I go way way back as well. Currently I only have one yeller handle, a Case Slimline Trapper.
No, I ain't a got a Peanut, for the first time in over fifty years I don't.

Remember the free Advertising knives with yeller handles?

Boy I do!
I especially liked the itty bitty ones, that came on a beaded key chain.
I am speaking of the one about 1" to 2" closed length with a carbon steel blade.

Thems were neat!
Sharp too!

Don't laugh as Mentors showed me how to bore a hole in a coconut, cut apples and oranges, ...and even cleaned Trout with these.

Funny thing, I recall Mr. Van telling me the same thing. My dad put it a tiny bit different. "Don't need to be big, just sharp."

No yellow Bucks at the moment. Camillus made some and Buck made some. Let me see if I can confuse everyone.

In the standard Big 4 models: 301,303,309 and 305. if the date code is 1986 or later( < stamped after model number on tang, 87 >, 88^ , 89 v ) all knives before those years knives were made by Camillus. Buck took over in 1986 but still made them with brass liners and two springs just like the Cami's but with BUCK on escutcheon plate. After 1989 Buck went to all stainless steel construction and a blade spring for each blade, 2 or 3 depending on model and went back to knife, bolt and hammer escutcheon. That said, Camillus continued to produce some of the NON-BIG 4 models into the 90's, such a 313,307, etc. until contracts and parts dried up. Cami also contracted a couple of models, 329 double bladed trapper and the Barlows with the Buck name on them but sold only by SMKWs. You occasionally find a oddball knife in yellow during this transition. Such as a 307 big stockman with a BUCK escutcheon plate which is a Buck mid-80's thing, but it was made by Cami. probably in 1989 or 90.

Right now you want a yellow Buck you have to fight with the rest of us on the auction sites for them. But I only want the oddities......
300Bucks

This Buck Model 329 offer says SMKWs all over the place, before you even read the fine print......

The 329 can also be found as a plain Jane. Sorta looks like a Case step brother doesn't it.
