Yellow Rose 83 Issues?

Not trying to start an argument, but for the money you guys pay for these things, they should be perfect. Send it back.

I have two and one is exactly like this above mentioned LB83. The lock button is so difficult to release that I literally have to use a pen turned sideways to give me more leverage to release it. The swirls are not as bad however. The knife is kinda a letdown quality wise but thats just me.

If I'm not mistaken, all Great Eastern Cutlery knives carry a Lifetime Warranty on Workmanship and Materials.

I hate to be the guy that says "you're too picky", cause I always think that's unnecessary, but I think I wouldn't worry.

I have had other Northfields with visible polish marks, just like on my yellow rose 83, and I think the lighting in your pictures accentuates them.

As for the spring, what do you mean it takes two hands? Every traditional lockback I've had has needed a hand on the blade and one on the handle to close it. They have all been more difficult to depress than modern lockbacks.

That all said, you could send it back to the dealer. I think that would be better than sending it to GEC cause I don't think it's out of specs, and you'll just be more disappointed if they don't lighten the pull and polish it to your liking. Or you could sell it to me for a good price ;)

Yep he sold it to me for a very good price. I'll post in here with my opinion on it when I get it in hand.

I'm not sure if this one had polish marks/swirls on it or not. I just didn't pay much attention before I put it into service but you really can't see them now. :D

I received this knife from EyeDog on Saturday. I have not handled any other 83's beside this one so take everything I say with a grain of salt as I don't know what is "normal" as far as the locking mechanism goes. It does feel a little hard to me to open but not anything I would rate as being an issue but for example my wife wasn't able to close the blade but my dad had no issues closing it. It just feels really tight like the tolerances are just really close but I'm pretty confident that it will wear in with use and I have not tried flushing anything out yet either so that might change something too. If I had arthritis or carpal tunnel I might not be writing the same review as it would probably be difficult for me to close then. The scratches on the blade look like typical Northfield polishing marks to me and maybe even better than about half of my other Northfields. Looks bad in direct sunlight but they can't be felt or anything and almost non existent indoors. I'm very happy with this knife and it will see plenty of use. Thanks again EyeDog!

I'm a newcomer here and just thinking out loud. Do you think there was a problem with the polishing on the drop points and that is why the clip points came in satin finished?

I would say that is very possible seeing as I got 2 of the drop points with satin blades. Bad bunch of compound perhaps?? Regardless, I am pleased as punch as I have been wishing for a satin blade with stag covers! :D
