Yes Another Recon1 "review"

I don't have a recon1 but i do have a ak47 that through over 2 years of hell and came out on top like a beast. Sure i had to sharpen it alot, but then again the steel is soft enough that it takes 1 pass on practically anything (including car windows and ceramic dishes).

Ok It's been another month. So I started a new job. Its a metal fabrication and mechanic job. Anyways I take the knife to work every day. I cut all kinds of hose/gas lines, scrape gaskets, scribe lines in paint and on raw metal, use it as a punch, pull apart pallets, cut box's, make my lunch with it, and any thing else I can. That knife has one hell of a lock on it!
Last Saturday night while out with the usual suspects. We decided to go on a fire can run. We each grab a sixer, hop on our bike and ride. We take a good old coffe can hobo stove with us. We ended up at the park around midnight. It had been raining all night and we were a bit wet and cold. All the wood around was of course wet. So I busted out the pocket knife and started splitting wood. I found a nice big log. I'd say 8" in diameter and 3'long. Got me a rock hammer and just started pounding away, as two buddys set up a quick shelter with a poncho and a fish stringa. Well the knife did a wounderful job splitting up that wood to fit in the can. So in about 10min we had a nice shelter, fire, and beers. Would you believe it, two young ladies just happen to be on there way home from the bar and stumbled upon us! We didn't leave until about 4am. We went threw a lot of wood, one of our new friends even gave the knife ago at splitting up some wood for us. She seemed rather impressed, and were supposed to do it all over again this coming Saturday night.

I forgot to add The "tuff"ex coating is about half gone now. The edge got pretty dull after all the wood work. One might say" well no S Sherlock", but my OKC SP 91 can take down a forest, and butcher every deer in it with out loosing any of its edge. I still sharpen it every night, just got done a few minutes ago. I will say I had missed placed the Recon one morning, so I grabbed the good old coffe table jocky, the Buck 110. I cut one 1/2" hose just once and that was it for the Buck. Although it dose a good job cutting up animals. I have been throwing around the idea of ordering an Ontario Spec plus folder to swap out the blade on the Recon. I absolutely love that 1095 carbon. It keeps its edge so well
