YES believe it or not, I have more questions!

You are doing fine.the lansky stones get smoother with use and I found I needed to get a few of the more course grits to get the kind of steel removal I was hoping for when sharpening a knife for the first time(reprofiling to get he angle I wanted not the angle it came with). Cleaning them helps and when they begin to get worn and are no longer flat you can get large cheap sharpening stone to flatten them.
 
I would advise against rubbing any stone in a Lansky kit on a cinder block. I tried it with a Norton stone and it was never the same after. Water stones can be lapped on a block, but only the coarse ones. The block will leave deep grooves in the stone and some 40 or 80 grit sand paper works much better and just as fast.
