Ahh I hate these reccomendation threads as much as the next guy, but just hear me out..

In a nutshell:
I have hit a stalemate with Benchmade. I have spent the last 12+ years loving, buying, using, my BM’s. I have found which designs work best for me, and which do not. I’ve made mistakes with some buys, and some I do not regret. Here’s the issue. I really, really, really, like SPEAR-POINT designs, and BM lack’s there of.

I have ZERO experience with other manufacturers (only experience with materials that I can carry over), but have found some that could be possibles. I would sincerely appreciate any *real feedback on these manufacturers (my examples below), and any you might have from personal experience. I’m looking for some kick-ass spear-point folders price not an issue. Thanks

Possibles:

1) EMERSON A-100 STONEWASH PLAIN EDGE

2) EMERSON CQC-10 (Uncoated)

3) HOGUE EX02 3.75" SPEAR POINT BLACK/GRAY G-MASCUS (Meh.. Coated :grumpy:)

Thanks!

I was thinking of getting the CQC10 as well, until my friend had problems with his Super Roadhouse liner lock and the reality of how fast a Ti liner wears out re-entered my brain.

So I bought a Presidio lol

I like spearpoints too- my favorites are the Benchmade 913, Benchmade 730 and Bradley Alias I. I have some Spydercos too and the Starmate seems to me to be similar to some of the Benchmades.

My Spyderco Native5 Titanium Fluted has a spear point. They're tough to find. I'll do a side by side picture with my Benchmade 530 Pardue CF LE since I know you're a fan of that one.

Spyderco Leaf-shaped look a lot like spear point. See the Caly 3 CF below.

As a fellow BM fan, as I was reading your post Emerson was the first to come to mind, and now that you mention it, I really, really like Hogue knives.

Best of luck!

Spyderco just released a special knife in memory of Frank Centofante and his signature was the spear point as is this special run.

Specs:
length overall 7.07" (180 mm)
blade length 3.02" (77 mm)
blade steel VG-10
length closed 4.05" (103 mm)
cutting edge 3.00" (76 mm)
weight 3.4 ounces (8.8 grams)
blade thickness 0.091" (2.3 mm)
handle material Titanium / Glass Fiber

William Henry makes a bunch of beautiful spear points. Some very expensive. Some exclusively at an online dealer.

Being a BM addict myself, I have come to like ZT's and Hogue's. Hogue's button lock is awesome, super smooth opening, solid lock-up.

Look at a Spyderco Gayle Bradley. Emerson also has the CQC7A, which is a spear point IIRC. I think Kershaw has one or two (Junkyard Dog?). SnG come in a spear point. Burger's EXK1 is a true spear point and very nice looking, but pricey, folder.

My favorite spear point for daily carry is a BM Bone Collector, but you already knew about that one, of course.

I can't access your knife collection link for some reason. I'm sure you know about the BM Ares. It's my favorite BM spear point knife.

If you're in an automatic-friendly state many of the Benchmade autos are spear point.

Totally forgot to mention Strider SMF & SNG with Spear Point blades. I have the SMF with Gunner Grip handle (6AL4V titanium and textured G10) and it's very comfortable in the hand and even with an almost 4" blade it weighs only 4.7 ounces.

Since I know you just ordered a Spyderco Military here are a couple of comparison pictures:

Being a BM fan I'm sure you have several BM 875 knives....right?

P_Meticulous....I think you'd benefit from having a look at this recent thread... http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1094843-Benchmade-vs-Other-Name-Brands in regards to other people's opinion of how different manufacturers compare to Benchmade. See post #19 and #42 especially ;)

In short, I highly recommend Emerson if you want a knife that can go to hell and back without skipping a beat. I've put my Super Commander through some serious work and it is still functioning like the day I took it out of the box; perfect. It is probably my all-time favorite knife I've owned and not just because of its excellent reliability.

As far as spear-points specifically, I did just recently pick up a CQC-10. See thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1090187-CQC-10-Passion-UPDATE! However, I haven't yet put it through its paces. But if the Super Commander is any indication, it will be nothing short of amazing.

If you're into spear points you GOTTA have an Al Mar SERE 2000. IMO every knife collection should have one. Such a fantastic knife.

The Al Mar SERE 2000 (blade length of 3.6 inches and weighing 6 ounces) is a great knife but if you need a smaller knife like me in L.A. go with the Mini SERE 2000 which has a blade length of 3 inches and weighs in at 3.5 ounces. They look identical as you can see from the pictures below (SERE 2000 first and then Mini SERE 2000). By the way, SERE stands for Survival Evasion Resistance Escape. I have the SERE Mini 2000 in all black. Their ceramic coating is very effective for both corrosion and scratches.
