21.5" Chitlangi - saatisal handle - by Kami Sher
HPIM1047.jpg

This is my second khukuri by kami Sher and it's just as impressive as the other one.

This time however, something was very different.

The handle.

The handle on this one is truly delightful. Sher got it just right. It has a much flatter profile than the handle of any other khukuri in my collection. It's just right. No, strike that, it's absolutely perfect.

The blade is also slimmer than my other 21.5 chitlangi by Sher. It also doesn't have as much forward bend in the blade. It's very graceful and subtle.

They're both exactly 21.5" long. The new one has a slightly longer blade. It seems to be closer kin to the Sirupati than its older sibling.

As usual, Ms Yangdu has the quickest shipping around.

The Tribox of Happiness arrived in only two days.

Good buying ...what are their respective weights?

Where do the different Khuk's have their point of balance?

The new one according to Ms Yangdu's listing on last Friday's DOTD says it is 33oz. The weight of the two feel pretty close; the horn handled chitlangi has a wider but thinner blade and my new chitlangi has a narrower but slightly thicker blade. I'd guess the horn handled chitlangi probably weighs about 35oz.

Point of balance seems to be:
horn handled chitlangi - 3.5" from the edge of the bolster
saatisal handled chitlangi - 4.25" from the edge of the bolster

I fell in love with your first Sher Chitlangi. The Chit is the slimmest khuk that looks right in my eyes.

If you haven't obtained one yet, do it. You will not regret it.

The Chitlangi is almost as fast and agile as a Sirupati and it has some of the Ang Khola's awesome cleaving power. IMO it's the perfect balance and the perfect all-around khukuri.

The gorgeous sculpted and flowing appearance is just a pleasant bonus.
