Did you move the small the washers when you reverse the clip?

I actually prefer the plastic clips on my old style Endura and Delica's. I never had a problem of them breaking, and I beat up on them pretty good.

Then main reason why I like the plastic better is that you could brush up against something (like a car door or my antique dining room table) with leaving a horrible scratch.
