yesterday BOOMSTICK, NORCALBLACKTAIL(nate) and I, went for a little stroll at one of the near by state parks... Fall Creek...this spot is actually a favorite of ours... it's nice and lush, generally really cool during the summer...in the winter this place is loaded with all sorts of mushrooms..

we were cruising along the trail and Nate stopped and started to inspect a rotting stump... just as he suspected, it turned out to be the base of an old pine.. he busted out one his many Silky saws and made short work of it... SCORE.. fatwood a plenty...
we dragged the log down a side trail a bit and cut it up into smaller peices... we wrapped it up and threw it in our packs and continued the rest our hike...

here's one of Nate's Busse's... we used this one to chop these down... i think it's an FBM?? it's surprisingly lightweight for it's size..

i got my NWA knife with a 4 in. blade.. i think nick only made 4 others with a 4 in. all the rest were 5 in...

looks like an awsome hike. that NWA knife looks really cool. nice fatwood score too, unfortunatly i have yet to find any in the isolated patch of woods behind my house.

Awesome.

I find Fall Creek lush and beautiful, but saddening, because it is so overtaken with invasive non-native species (English ivy, African periwinkle, etc.).

Good score on the fatwood. I used to have a NWA with longer blade. I wish I had one with the shorter blade.

Yeah, nice score! I saw the end product at Boomstick's, that is some good quality stuff.

So were is the pics/video of you testing out your new stash?

Nice score! I've got to keep my eyes out next time out. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thats an awesome 4in NWA. I really like those things!!!

Great pics, and nice score on the fatwood!!!!

Looks like a great trip Mike.

Great score on the fatood bro!

Must be nice going hiking with an arborist.

what a score! i, like barberfobic, haven't found any in the woods behind the house, but i'm still looking.
